If they are "favorites" then

If they are "favorites" then they are in your gpx file (X:\Garmin\gpx\current.gpx). You can copy that file to the new unit.

If you mean your poi files, then you will just have to load them back in on the new unit

And . . .

If you copy current.gpx to the new unit, it will not load them into the unit unless you rename the file -- try temp.gpx and it will probably delete the temp.gpx file after you reboot and it loads them. If not, delete it manually.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Easiest way

Easiest way is to hook up your old 205 to your computer and Mapsource ... and import the waypoints (favorites) from the 205. Disconnect the 205 ... hook up the new unit ... and then upload the waypoints from Mapsource to your new gps.

Simple.

Garmin 205, 260W, 1450LMT, 2460LMT, HEREwego for iPhone ... all still mapping strong.

Easiest Way (I agree)

I agree with dbwatts. I use Mapsource to transfer my favorites from my C320 to a 265WT.

I also agree

that using Mapsource is the easiest but the issue with that solution for many people, particularly those new to the GPS world, is that Garmin no longer supply Mapsource with their units (at least not the Nuvi line).

Don't think that works

Any Mapsource download is an update to the original software so you have to have Mapsource on your PC for the downloaded version to actually work.

We all started out the same way, and no question is dumb.

We're all here for the same reason, to learn from one another and help one another out. Today your asking, tomorrow you'll be telling.

Please let us know once you've succeeded smile

Mapsource

You can get Mapsource from the NW Trails project.

http://www.switchbacks.com/maps/NW_Trails.html

Then use the Garmin downloads to bring it to current version.

I have Mapsource from my TOPO set, but it is good to have this on-line access to the base program.

Interesting...

I downloaded Mapsource via that link. I could view the PC Base map, but not the City Select NA map, I need an unlock code. But even with just the base map, I could import all my favorites, routes, etc.

Is there an easy (read free...) method to unlock the City Select map? I don't recall getting a code with my 760.

I can use NA City Maps

After I did my 2010.20 map upgrade my Mapsource could use that mapset along with my TOPO maps.

Not sure why yours cannot...but my Mapsource came with the TOPO CD's so there may be something to that.

Transfer Favorites

You can use Nuvi Editor to transfer Favorites from one Nuvi to another. Just save the favorites to your computer. Then send then to the other Nuvi.

I did't get any map CDs with my 760, I don't remember any software that came other than what was installed on the unit itself.

You just posted in a very old thread.

Go back to http://www.poi-factory.com/node/39570 where you are the original poster and ask your questions there. We will all try to help.

Transferring data

is it possible to transfer the top speed, total miles data etc.. Both Garmins are nuvi 2595s. One has a loose USB jack
