nüvi 680 questions (see icons while driving)

I have a nüvi 680 that I have a few custom POI files loaded together with the bmp icon files.
I would like to be able to see icons for POIs (for example, restaurants or gas stations) pop up as I drive along a planned route but have not been able to get that "magic". I believe I read an article online somewhere (forgot where/when) which states that feature is not available on the 6xx series. Can someone please put me out of my misery and either confirm or deny that?

nüvi 680 questions

The jpeg/icon must be named the same as the poi file.

Say you download burgers.gpx as a poi file
The icon you want to show up should be named burgers

What I do to keep things straight is create a file for each poi file and name is whatever the file will contain. If it was costco stores the file name would be costco. Within the file would be the downloaded poi file from POI Factory. Also in the file would be the icon I want to show up with the same name as the costco poi file I just downloaded
with the exception of the ending of the file name after the period (such as csv or gpx)

A Few Clarifications

Icons cannot be jpegs, they must be bmp's. In the example you give, the icon would be named "burgers.bmp", not "burgers". Finally, you are talking about putting files inside of files, but I'm sure you meant files in "folders".

Thanks for the input, guys. I am familiar with the procedure of creating POI files and the naming convention for both the POI .csv and the .bmp icon files.
My wish is to be able to plot in a destination, either using a Favorite or an address, and while driving to the destination, be able to get proximity alerts and see the icons for the POIs pop up on the map screen. If I were to select "All POIs" I would get a "running list" but I would not be able to see the map screen.

I feel that this should be possible to implement across all Garmin models and maybe if someone could/would initiate a (e)mail-in campaign lobbying Garmin to do that, it might just get Garmin moving.

That's the end of my rant on this.

Thanks for your time, guys.
