Distance to next city

I have a little Streetpilot 530 and it does not have the ability to display the distance to the next city without a lot of trouble. Is there another model or brand that can do this automatically or with a simple screen touch while driving?

Should be easy

Just go to the main menu, Where To?, Cities -- this should show the closest 5 cities, distance, and (if you're moving) direction.

Never noticed "Cities"

Thanks, never noticed "Cities", had to scroll down to see the word. Looks like exactly what I am looking for.

Just be aware that this will

Just be aware that this will be "crow fly" miles, not road miles. The road miles could be significantly greater, depending on your local terrain and road system.

WOW

Sure could have used this on my last trip.

Never know what I am going to learn when reading the discussions on POI-Factory.
Thanks

Just Curious

...any particular reason why this would be useful? I can see the fun factor to it, but what's the practical reason for it?

Thinking about stopping for lunch, bathroom, etc. Realizing you forgot something at home and need to find a store along the way. The car is making a noise and you're thinking you might need to find a mechanic soon. You're really tired and are thinking of stopping for the night. Sure, you can search for any of these as a POI but that doesn't tell you if the POI is out in the middle of nowhere or if it's in a city with 3 restaurants, a convenience store and a Wal Mart within walking distance.

And my number one favorite: Playing with a tech toy because you know that info has to be in there somewhere, you just need to figure out how to get at it.

Playing with your nuvi
