Newbie with a question

Hi, I want to apologize in advance if this is a really stupid question.
I have looked at all the POIs and think they are great, and have downloaded a lot of them.
But I was wondering if there was just a way to download an entire yellow pages of information onto your system for maybe one or two cities.
As opposed to every covered bridge in America, maybe everything imaginable in the whole county you live in.
Is this possible? If so, where is the Tucson information download?
Thanks in advance for your help.

The question has been asked before and there are several reasons why most POI cover the entire country.

When a POI developer (poster, creator - you pick a name) creates a file to share they aren't necessarily sure where it will be used. The easiest way to insure everyone can use the file is to create one for the entire US.

POI, when loaded don't take up that much space in the unit, so having those extra areas isn't a big deal. You can use a spreadsheet program such as Excel to edit a POI CSV file and eliminate any unused or unwanted locations, but that is almost more trouble than it's worth.

Everyone uses the files differently, but when you are outside the areas you have loaded, it can be very difficult to load a new area into the unit. My suggestion is to not worry about it. Garmin kind of filters POI for you automatically in that it shows only about the 50 closest to your current location.

Hmmm... that gives me an idea... uh oh grin

A program could be written to scan EVERY POI CSV file that you have and give you a CSV file containing ALL POI's within a certain radius of your selected position? It would be easy enough, but you'd have to be intrepid enough to download ALL of the POI CSV files from POIFactory if you wanted to cover EVERYTHING. Then again, an on-line version would be interesting too! jk Miss POI smile

Did I just volunteer for that? DOH! grin

Oh well... Let me know if there's interest, and I'll do it

You could try using POI Harvestor or Get Me My POIs and search for a wild card like *. That would get you everything listed with Yahoo search in the radius specified.
