better Retail POIs

Hi, I'm looking for better POI files for retail locations for my Tomtom 910. The POI file for retail locations I downloaded from TomTom's website is missing many well known stores and restaurants.

I see that I can download POIs from POI Factory which are specific to locations (Starbucks, Home Depot, etc) but does anyone have a comprehensive POI file of all Retail Stores? Either for all of the USA or just Los Angeles?

hmmmm

I think that you can download the whole file and then edit the file to keep only the locations that you are interested in.

We are still a fairly new site but we are growing fast, you can always make suggestions on what sort of Poi file you are interested in and see if there are others that might want to team up and help you accomplish your goal.

welcome to the site.

What version software do you have for the TomTom 910?
There is an upgrade available that has the latest maps.

Copy and paste to see if your upgrade is free.

thanks, yes, I have the latest maps but the POIs on the TomTOm site are outdated. I'm curious if I can get a POI file from, say a Garmin user, convert it to TomTom and then add it to my 910.

I was driving around the other day and looked up Lowes in my POI file and there was none to be found. Of course Los Angeles has several Lowes locations so I was hoping to get a better POI file than the one I got from TomTom.

I think we have all experienced something like that, whether it is a TomTom or a Garmin, etc. There isn't a way to load the Garmin database onto another unit. However, that is why we have all been creating our own POI's. Many times they are more up to date than the built in ones, although sometimes ours aren't perfect either smile
If you want Lowes, download those custom POI's, along with any others that you think you might want.

POI & help

This is a great site for POI files and very friendly, helpful folks.

You can download the ones of interest.

For Garmin, there's a beta version POI loader that can categorize & sub-categorizes. So you can organize your POIs. (Don't know if there is an equivalent for Tomtom).

Use POI edit

If you already have the latest map, the only other option is to download poi files from this website and use POI Edit software to convert to TomTom's ov2 format.
