Proximity Problem

Need help. please. I have nuvi 755T I donwloaded the school zones in manual mode (1320 ft). Turned on proximity points. So I typed a address and test drive it pass by the school and it didnt give me warning. Why is that? do I have to set up or missed something?

Another problem with

proximity alerts. I used several POIs that had proximity alerts and when I tried to route to a place where there were two or three alerts my Nuvi 750 would get in a loop and go back and forth and never get past the alert. I was in simulation mode. I deleted the alerts and everything seemed to work ok.

Do the simulation mode again

Do the simulation mode again but this time select go to for the location and see if the alert sounds. If it does most likely when you did the simulation to drive past it the coordinates are located more then 50 ft off the road of travel. What are the coordinates? We can check them using Google maps to get a idea of far off the road of travel they are.

There is a school on a street that I drive down, but the address/coordinates are on a different street hence no alert. Are you actually driving on the street the school's address is on?

edit: The poi is for school locations not school zones... (Which might be of more help for warnings)

Yes, I was driving on the school's street. what you mean by editing poi is it the folder in my pc the re-load it to the gps?

Edit was a reference to the posting..

Not the poi... I would do as Charles45 suggested and set the school as a destination and see if you get an alert.

BTW do you have your proximity alerts turned on? Is the mp3 file named exactly the same as the poi file except for extensions? Are you sure you don't have double extensions? Etc, etc, etc...

I set to simulation mode and set to school destination and it alerts. but thats different school location I was driving.

The problem is going to be

The problem is going to be the coordinate location.I found when driving to VA from FL if I set go to for a location for Cracker Barrel that I would get the first alert will beyond the coordinates being more then 50 ft off the road of travel. The Nuvi looks at the complete route and sounds the alarm based on the destination.Just passing by a Cracker Barrel and not selecting go to no alert would sound because of the coordinate location.

You will need to re-set the coordinates or put TourGuide in the name of the file and set the distance you want. This will be more of a radius alert.

Have you tried differrent schools?

BTW I got my school alert to work, but very quickly tired of being alerted to all the schools in Los Angeles... As I did with all the other alerts I tried when I first got my toy... I now only have alerts working for redlight/speed cameras...
