I notice my zumo550 leaves a trace where I have been. Lots of little trails around home for example. Can you get ride of those to have a clean map ?

You can get rid of the visible trip log by going to Wrench > Map > Trip Log > and change the setting from "Show" to "Hide".
You can also clear the trip log by going to Wrench > User Data > Manage Trip Log.
