Loading POIs

Hi. I am new at this web sight. I have one question. Is there a way to load POIs by state rather than by File Categories? Can I load the POIs for the state I live in being restaurants, shopping, schools ect. Thanks for any help.

You could...

You would have to edit the csv or gpx files to only include the areas you want. A csv file is easy enough to edit - open in either a text editor (Notepad) or Excel. Depending on how the data is listed, you may be able to sort it in Excel and delete what you don't want.

If you already have your POIs broken down by state, then you can load them by state. But the POI loader won't load just the Ohio portion of a national POI listing.

If your POIs are nation-wide lists then you will need to edit them. CSV files are easy to edit using some type of spreadsheet program (Excel for one). GPX files are somewhat harder to edit.

Other than file size, there really is no reason to load only a portion of a POI file. Your GPS will sort the POIs according to their distance from your present location and then show you the closest ones.
