Help

A few weeks ago I downloaded red light cameras to my Nuvi 360, but I am not getting any sort of warning when approaching a camera and don't even see anything on the screen that would note that I am approaching a camera. Is there something else that I need to do? Thanks.

troubleshooting nuvi red light alerts

First, check to see that your GPS is seeing the POI file. Are you able to see red light cameras listed under "My Locations / Custom POIs"? -- If they're not showing up, use POI loader to load them into the GPS.

If you can see them with the GPS but get no alerts, make sure alerts are enabled under "Settings / Proximity Points".

If you see the POIs and Alerts are enabled, the file may have been loaded without settings. In this case, you'll need to reloading with POI Loader. If you leave the file named "Redlight Cameras.csv", POI loader will enable proximity alert points by default. If you use a different name, you may need to manually enable alert settings in POI loader.

Please share what you find. If you're still stuck, I can help you out via email.

Nuvi red light alerts

Thanks for your help.

The POI file is showing up on my GPS.

I went to "Proximity Points" and changed the audio notification to 'Continuous-All Alerts'. I then went out for a drive and it didn't work.

I returned and deleted the CSV file from my GPS and reinstalled it, to see if that helps.

Is there a way to simulate driving a route to see if it works without actually driving to the area?

Thanks again.

an idea

I guess you could tell your GPS that the neighbors have a red light camera sitting in their yard and then go for a walk around the block to see if it goes off.

simulate driving

Miss poi's suggestion is cute, but there may be a better way.

On some Garmin models, you can turn off GPS reception with a "use indoors" or "GPS Mode" setting. The GPS will offer to simulate driving a route after you select a destination while in this mode.

I looked in the nuvi manual but wasn't able to confirm this type of feature for the nuvi 360. It looked like nuvi might disable GPS when the antenna was flipped down, but I couldn't tell for sure.

If you can't simulate driving, I can create a redlight test file with a location in your neighborhood. Just send me a note via the contact form with your address.

Simulate driving

Thanks, I was able to simulate it and it works.

Is there somewhere that I can download POI's for speed cameras and speed traps.

Thanks for all of your help.

great

I haven't seen any comprehensive collections, but you might be able to find some smaller collections elsewhere on the web that people have put together for their local area. This is a category we'd like to see grow here at POI Factory.

Also -- How did you disable GPS on your nuvi -- was it by flipping down the antenna?

Antenna

Yes, I flipped it down and it worked. Thanks again.
