Magellan 1470 Review

Review is out on the new Magellan and it's pretty good. Been using mine now for a few weeks and no problems, love the Highway lane assist, larger screen. One draw back is you can't load are fav poi's from here, but besides that great looking and working GPS, also love the 4 route options for going to your destination.(More or Less freeways). I also got the traffic receiver free from Amazon tell the end of this month (80.00) No thrills just gets you to your destination.

You should be able to use many of the POI files available on this site... (Anything saved in .CSV format).

I looked at the review in the link you posted and see the unit is almost exactly the same as my Magellan Maestro.. (Even the screen layouts are the same). On page 5 of the review, (in figure 48) they show a screen that has a "My POIs" button and below the figure, they describe how you can load custom POIs.

Check the software disk that came with the unit.. You should have a program called "Magellan POI File Editor" on the disk. If you do, you will be able to use that program to convert the .CSV files available on this site to .MGLN files and then transfer them to your unit.

I've done this with my Maestro.

Are we looking at the same review? I can't find anything you just described!

I clicked on the link you provided and read it... That's where I got the 'Page 5, Figure 48 info'. Looking at the same link again today, I see it's different. There aren't big differences.. Just subtle ones. I'm at a total loss to explain why it's not the same.

I'm completely baffled!

It looks like you can't add custom POI's..... Sorry for the confusion.
