Garmin 265t

Should of gotten the 265WT. This screen is too small to identify upcoming street names. And I dont like the fact that you can use the voice files to anounce the custom POI's unless someone know how to do it....but the "biong" is really anoying.

Voice prompts for custom POI are loaded at the same time the POI file is loaded. As you have a 200 series, you cannot use MP3 files. MP3 files have to be converted to WAV and a copy of the program SOX.EXE has to be in the same directory (folder) as POILoader.exe.

There are several programs available to convert MP3 files to WAV files. I use Audacity which is a free download. If you do a search for SOX.EXE on this site, you will find several links to the program and instructions on installing it.

Lupo. Here is a outline on how to install the wav files for your unit.Any problems let us know.

a. Download the latest PoiLoader file at http://www8.garmin.com/products/poiloader/ .
b. Download Sox Exe at http://rapidshare.com:80/files/139638423/sox.zip .
c. After un-zipping Sox Exe file place it in your Garmin folder where the PoiLoader exe file is located on the computer.
d. The wav file for alerts will be named the same as the CSV or GPX file except for the extensions.
e. You can make your own wav files by going to http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php and typing in what you want it to say or use a program to convert mp3 files to wav. When using the conversion it must be saved as PCM, 44.100 kHZ., 16 bit, Mono. Wav files are also on site for download.
