Oregon 400c does not display Bouy Numbers

I just got my new 400c and have been playing around with it.

I have noticed that the g2 Bluecharts on the 400c do not diaplay the Bouy/Marker numbers.

Such as can #8, or Daymarker #3 etc.

I have it set to display the "MOST" detail on the maps/charts and I zoom in as far as it will go and still no numbers.

This is a serious problem if you are using it for any sort of navigation.

Anyone else with a 400c who can take a look at theirs for me to see if it's the same.

I left it at work so I don't have the Firmware version, but I think it was something like 2.4.

Maybe the newest firmware has fixed it..... please let me know...

Thanks, Tim

Since the Oregon is not shown as a compatible unit for the BlueChart g2, I'm not surprised that the buoy markers aren't shown. I know that for the other BlueCharts they will work with the nuvi and Zumo series but with limitations. And many users reported that at least part of the limitations were that the depths of the water wasn't shown.

I will be interesting to see if others are finding this on their units.

Oregon 400c not showing bouys

Hi MM,

The Oregon 400c "IS" compatible with the g2 BlueCharts.

It's what comes preloaded from the factory on the unit.

It's the g2 "Vision" Bluecharts which are not compatible.

Well... actually they are compatible, but a waste since the 400c won't display any of the "Visions" on the g2 vision Bluecharts.

So I am still perplexed why the 400c won't display the bouy/marker numbers with the unit set to the MOST details setting and even if you zoom in to the closest view.

I have sent an email to Garmin Support about it.

Maybe it was soemthing which has been corrected with the firmware upgrades since the 400c I received has an older firmware version on it.

But before I do anything, I'll see what Garmin comes back with.

The unit is worthless for navigation without that info being displayed.

Interesting. I was drawing that conclusion from this page, not the Vision page.

But based upon the Oregon 400c page, it would seem that the buoys should show.

With BlueChart® g2, you’ll get everything you need for a great day on the water including depth contours, navaids and harbors.

400c not showing bouy numbers

MM,

This link to the Garmin products page shows the 400s using the BlueChart g2 Coastal charts.

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=161&pID=14905#

But... it's interesting that when I look closely at the pictures of the 400c.... the pictures displayed do not show any bouy numbers either !

Garmin can't be that dumb....

Without bouy numbers... this thing is a paperweight as far as navigation goes.
