OMG!
I haven't been in Chicago for about 4 years and I have been relocated there for work and there are red light cameras and security cameras EVERYWHERE!!! Holy Crap! Talk about big brother! I get all stressed out because every light my GPS is sounding off because of a RLC there and I am worried if the light is a stale green and I'm going to be an unlucky victum of bad timing.
Get ready to pay.
Welcome to Chicago....
We have RLC, Traffic, Cop in a box (flashing cop cameras), and Security (personal and public) most of them tied into the city.
Did I mention we may also get Speed cameras
(currently only on rolling vans at construction sites).
Don't ask about the sales tax....

You are not alone, your statement is accurate people start to be paranoid with so many cams, because you never know if you have time to clear the intersection in time with out a ticket.
In Toronto they have red light cams but they also have the count down to yellow. Where they have the hand and the pedestrian they have a number counting down from 10-15 depend how big is the intersection.
This way when you are driving towards an intersection you can see if you have enough time to go or to stop. The pedestrians are also safer.
Gps! ask where to go and get there! Best of all, what we need is to have accurate pois to reach all destinations
Cameras Everywhere
Any here remember the book "1984".
Yep... Big Brother is certainly watching.
George Orwell would be beaming with pride with his predictions.
I'm glad that I have kept up with the updates
I went to dinner the other night and my Garmin warned me of a speed camera I had not even known existed.
I'm glad that I have kept up with the updates. I discovered the next day that Tucson had added 11 more speed cameras that I had never heard about. I'm glad that Miss POI is so on top of things.

Chicago Red Light
I agree Chicago is crazy there are cameras everywhere! On the plus people around here think stop signs and red lights are more of a suggestion. Maybe they can get some of the nuts to slow down and or stop.

Not sure how that cams work yet but have watched them some. they seems to start flashimg just about as it turns red. does this mean if your almost though you get nailed or does it get you at the passing the white line at the time of the flash?
I have watched a few RLC's and have been flashed.
Love Chicago... Appears that if you cross the white line without making a complete stop you get a single flash. Go about 10 feet further get a 2nd flash and if you keep going you get a 3rd and at some point an 8 second video is triggered.
Chicago has Red Light Cameras, Railroad Crossing Cameras (were 3, but a bill was passed allowing them State wide and the new one on the plate is speed cameras for 8 counties in the Chicago area. Before the speed cams can be implemented the law that states a Police officer must be present at Speed Enforcement Camera Locations has to be rescinded.
