How do You like your 265WT

I am thinking of upgrading my garmin 750 to a garmin 265wt. Does anyone want to share your like/dislike for the 265wt?

It will help me make up my mind.

Still amazed

I have been using mine daily for nearly 3 months and I am still amazed at the features that come with this unit considering its price.

I've had mine for over a year. It occasionally points me in the wrong spot, but I'm pretty sure that's not a Garmin specific issue (more like Google or NAVTEC).

The traffic is really slick. I don't live in a traffic area, but used it in Detroit and got to the airport in under 1 hour, when locals said it couldn't be done in less than 90 minutes.

Garmin nuvi 265WT GPS for $174.99 at BestBuy.com

This Garmin nuvi 265WT GPS is on sale from Best Buy for $174.99. Shipping is $6.99, but in-store pickup is free.

I like my 255WT.

If you don't need bluetooth, you can get the Nuvi 255WT - which also comes with lifetime traffic(with ADS). Personally, I can't see myself using the Nuvi as a bluetooth extension to my cell phone. Sure, I would try it out - but I can't picture myself using it much.

It costs $85+ ($119 MSRP) for the GMT25 FM Traffic receiver cable seperately - so buy it bundled with the Nuve2XXwt to save some money.

All in all, I like it thus far.

Best price

New 265wt's have been on sale for $170 or 180 at Radio Shack and Staples if you can wait and shop. Refurbished units have been cheaper. I wanted to get mine at a store and not over the internet.

360 vs 265

I just upgraded to a 265wt for 129.95 (refurbished) and so far I really like it. It seems louder post the speed limit and tells me how fast I am going while navigating. However I Miss Jill

265WT

Your money worth each and every penny for 265WT. A great unit GPS unit with Bluetooth (even though I rather my headset) plus Free Navtaq Traffic, Driving challenge, custom POIs, etc...more.

Even though I have other brand names GPS, I choose Garmin for it's UI (user Interface) is most simplest.

I have it for about 6 months... I love it. I would recommend to a friend. Overall, It's an affordable unit with great features.

Like mine

Have had mine since Christmas. Was watching prices and they went as low as 159 at both Walmart and Amazon so I thought that's about as low as I'd expect it to go and bought it. Very good unit overall. Love the very fast sattelite lock - turn it on and it's ready to go. Comparing that to a handheld GPSMap60c which can take a few minutes to lock. Freezes up every once in a while, but I just pull the power plug and restart it and it's fine.

They sure have came down in

They sure have came down in price.I paid 249 on a Black Friday sale.

FL and Back

My 265WT performed well on the round trip from VT to FL. Only complaint would be some of the POI files didn't have the exact coordinates but that is not the Garmin's error. It worked really well,,,perfectly happy

Tigerdirect sells refurbished Nuvi 265WT for $130.

265wt is perfect

I have 265wt and 285wt. my friend has 750w. between three of those, the 265wt seems like a better built device. my 285wt is slower than 265wt in acquiring sat signal, and on the bottom of 285 display, i can see the flactuation in lighting. 750 is super slow in recalc the route and is not as responsive as other two, i think it is because of satellite hot fix. so go with garmin devices that has Satellite hot fix. you can not go wrong with 265wt, it has the most bang for your buck.

I don't

I don't

nuvi 265wt

I got mine from Newegg in February. I use it every day and love it. The only thing I wish it did is to display a whole category of POIs instead of having to pick just one POI.

265wt and 765wt

I have both the 265wt and 765wt, I like the voice on my 265wt better, but the 765wt calculates route faster.

265WT sound

I bought my daughter a 265WT, and have used it several times while my unit was in the shop. I think its a very nice GPS except for the audio speaker sounds bad. If you turn it up too loud the voice gets distorted and it sounds tinny compared to my 765T, but aside from that it works great.

I agree the sound no where near as good as my C580 and today it broke up so bad I had to restart it then it was OK.. Wondering if this was the original problem since it's a refurb unit? Otherwise works well and traffic signal is very good..

New 265wt $150 includes shipping & screen protector

Available at newegg until Monday noon PDT. Good unit if you don't need to store routes.

$150 deal not as originally advertised

Unit at newegg now advertised as a 265W without screen protector. If it doesn't have traffic, I wouldn't buy it.

Buy through Bing and save more!

I bought mine refurbed from TigerDirect but went through Bing and my botton line price was $114.00 and free shipping.. I am really disappointed in the sound quality and may contact Garmin.. If I go above 70% it tends to rattle and sound tinny.. I don't know if this is a defect or "normal" for this GPS..

Will be calling Tigerdirect to exchange it for another one.. I wrote Garmin and the rep pretty much agreed the speaker is probably blown.. My C580 has 2 speakers and 10X better sound.. If my C580 didn't need a map upgrade and traffic subscription I wouldn't have bought this one as the C580 is a nice GPS.. It was cheaper to buy a new GPS with free traffic than to upgrade..Garmin makes a good GPS even my i3 still works OK..I am wondering what others here think about the sound on their 200 series Nuvi's...

I have two Nuvis, 855 and 265. I see hardly any difference in performance, the 265 is a very stable unit.

I got the 855 only for the special expressway lane view, which I only need when I'm driving cross country. I use the 265 for work and works flawlessy.

Here's my 265WT mounted in the instrument cluster in the 2004 Colorado, mounted with a velcro strip on the bottom of the unit. Works just fine, both navigation and traffic. And merely pull the top down and it becomes almost invisable when you leave the truck..

265t

I live in the DC / MD area and having the traffic alerts (free) is very nice.

I don't like the fact that

I don't like the fact that the charge cable does not plug into the the cradle. It is more of a hassel to put it away.

Nuvi 265T

I've had mine for just over a year and love it. I do think that the traffic updates are not very accurate, however, that's not the units fault. Anyway, be sure to download the Garmin WebUpdate software and update the firmware out of the box.

garmin 265wt

great for nyc getting around traffic.
The unit has reset itself twice to no voice and clearing of all recent points visited. Kept the save points, good thing. Gets better with software updates make sure you have a fast internet connection for the downloads. Dial up too slow, at 56K would have been 1/2 hour for recent update to 6.4.

Nuvi 265WT

I have had my Nuvi 265WT for about 9 months or so and it works great. The only "problem" I have with it is my wife can't stand using the Bluetooth function. She says she has to holler at the screen to get someone to understand her. It's possible the road noise was too loud for the communication. But, all in all, I like the unit very much and wouldn't hesitate buying another. I also have the Nuvi 750. It is a good unit, but I prefer the turn indicators on the 265WT, rather than text at the top of the screen. I find it hard to read that text while driving.

sent gps back for another unit

Called Tigerdirect today and I am shipping back my 265WT.. Another unit on its way.. If this one isn't right I will get a refund and will not get another refurbished unit.. Hope I just got a lemon but I think this one was returned because of the sound and they just sent it back out..

I have had my refurbished

I have had my refurbished 265WT for almost 6 months now. I first noticed that some of the routes it wanted to take made no sense and were entirely different than what my 200 would do. Another thing I found that there was less detail on the maps and some of the roads were messed up and just disappeared while driving. The 200 had the 2009 map and the 246 had the 2010 map. I thought it was just something with this particular series and decided to live with it. Over the weekend I updated it to the 2011 map and all my issues went away, and I have more detail in the maps than ever. I can only conclude that there was an issue with the map image, probably the reason it was returned to begin with.

Free updates

It always pays to see if there is an update for the software on the unit, even new ones, by conecting to the Garmin web site.
Did they give you a free first map update or did you miss out on that because it was a refurbished unit.

No I had to pay for the

No I had to pay for the update. I did apply all the firmware updates but nothing helped until I updated the map. Despite all that I still love the unit, especially for the price.

I just purchased and been

I just purchased and been using the nuvi 265WT for a week, which is an upgrade from my 3 years old nuvi 360. The 265WT has everything that I need, including text-to-speech, lifetime FM traffic, and blue-tooth. I found the lane assist isn't really necessary, sometimes even makes it more difficult to follow.

I love mine

I got the 265WT recently and so far I am very pleased with it and it's features. My only disappointment so far is that occasionally it takes a very long time to acquire the satellites.

The 265 should not be taking

The 265 should not be taking long to get a fix on satellites.Mine is pretty fast.Do you have the latest updates 6.40 ? http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4105

Edit.Have not had the 265 on for a few days.Tried this morning and from the time I touched the agree tab it took 26 seconds to get full scale on satellites.

265WY

Our local Staples has them in store and online for 159 bucks +tax and Amazon.com has them for 166 +shipping (no tax)

We've been using one near Washington, DC for 2 years and with small exception it has been flawless. My wife really praises the "next turn" arrow, and the traffic indicator is working well on I66 and I495.

Crashmanager

The bluetooth to the phone

The bluetooth to the phone worked surprisingly well. Clear connection and never a complaint from the person on the other side. Depends on your needs... I like that I can see exactly who is calling right in front of me. I also like that I can give the hospital a quick heads up if we have something bad and still keep my hands on the wheel (and siren).

So good

I am so impressed with mine that I bought the life time maps update for it. grin
