I'm using the editor that came with my Roadmate 1412. But the map is blank. Is there a way to make it show a map, like of georgia? Does this make since.

No, it doesn't make sense either.
POI's and maps are two different things.
You can not edit maps.

The editor is a rather crude application that lets you manually enter coordinates and create a POI file from scratch or, you can edit an existing POI file,
When you open Magellan's POI file editor, you should be seeing a map of the world with only the countries marked out. There are no streets or any other type of detail. There is no way to add detail.
What you see when you open the POI editor is what you get.
