Can someone tell me how to make text linkable in a post?
What I want it to look like is:
- Link to someplace
But, when you click on it, it takes to to the hidden link. I know how to do it on a web page, but that won't work here.
Can't find a thing in the FAQ section.
TIA,

TIA,
If Miss POI is as smart as I think she is, she won't allow hidden links. Sounds like you are a basically dishonest person and you want to put something over on the folks here. Be Gone

EXcuse me
1. Pull up the Chick-fil-A POI.
2. Scroll to bottom.
3. Links there are plain text, but point to another POI file.
That's what I want to do - point to sub lists.
Please don't shoot from the hip.
Thank you,

Contact Miss Poi and if she deems it worthwhile I'm sure she can create the hidden links for you.
Although your intentions may be honorable you should understand why most forums don't allow members to post hidden links. It would be too easy for spammers and hackers to point people to malicious sites.

I think mariner has posted what you are looking for. I think that the phrased "hidden link" threw people off.
The phrase makes is sound like you are trying to hide/disguise something in the link, but if I understand what you are trying to do, you just want to parse cleaner text in the link which can be done as indicated in the the FAQ linked.
Issue resolved
I see what was going on;) He was trying to build a POI Package using code to include that links. I have gone ahead and linked all the sub category files to the main one. Here is your package: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/21554 Great job by the way.
I love it.

Re: issue resolved
Thank you, Miss POI
I went to bed wondering how in the heck others did it.
Again, thanks for stepping in and getting it straight. Hopefully I will remember how next time

It looks like I owe you an apology.I jumped to a conclusion based on what you said not what you wanted, and for that I'm sorry.

Apology not needed
I should know better than to NOT read what I am about to post.
I could have done better choosing my words. PLUS, it was past my bedtime (I'm normally up by 4 AM) and I don't think that well, that late, at the age of 64.
I just hope that people can use the POIs.
I wish they had GPS units in 1958, because the first night we got here, we got lost for about 2 hrs and a City policeman led us to the new house, which was in York county.
Back then, there was 1 Sheriff's Deputy on duty after midnight in James City county. Now it's a Police Department with a staff of over 100 people. And still growing.

Thank you Miss POI
Hopefully, there will be lots more to come.

For some reason, you are not seeing the same thing that I get when I click on "Input format". I get two radio buttons -- one is for Filtered HTML which you are seeing, and another for "Mardown" syntax. Without that radio button option, your proper use of the tags won't result in what you want. Are you using an unusual browser?
Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.
Apology anyway

I know what you mean about needing a GPS. I used to walk home from school by cutting through some woods, jumping a creek and crossing a corn field. If I navigated right, I'd come out at our house. If not, I had a walk. Anyway, you can't do that now, place is FULL of houses, no woods, corn field or creek. This was about 1959 or 1960, I'm 63.

As bentbiker mentioned, you should see 2 radio buttons when you click on the Input format.
The only thing I can think of is to delete Internet Explorer's Temporary Internet files. If not, which Web browser are you using?

I'm running IE 7
Running IE 7 here. Did a Shift + Refresh - No help.
Could be Java script or Firewall. Turned off Firewall - no help. Am investigating JavaScript settings.

Thanks, but I think we've come to the conclusion that it appears once you are a General Maintainer.

Miss POI, can you confirm this? That you have to be a General Maintainer to use the Input format option.
nuvi 2460LMT
.
You have to be a General Maintainer to be able to use Markdown. All users can use Filtered HTML.
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/16197
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/11535
Thus, only General Maintainers will have the radio buttons allowing the user to toggle between Filtered HTML and Markdown.
