I followed the thread on the Security Lock and don't quite understand it. OK, I put in a security lock on a secrete place and not in front of my house for obvious reasons. This is where I'm lost. How does that work now. Every time I drive by this place the unit unlocks and when I leave it locks again? Do I have to put this code in every time I turn on the unit in front of my house?
Thank you for any help.

no and yes
Every time you fire up the unit you need to enter the pin code. If you turn it on at your security location it will go right into operation. It stays in operational mode until you shut it off again.

.
Because if someone steals your GPS unit from your car parked in your driveway or from your house, then it would be easier for them to unlock it.
The idea behind the security location is that if you forget the security code, you can take the GPS unit to the security location and it will unlock without the security code having to be inputted. Then you will be able to access the unit and change the security code.
because
If someone steals your unit they will be able to disable the security code because it will be unlocked in your driveway.
