"Clumped" icons

Did a search here, in POI Factory, but didn't come up with any hits.

Have a Nuvi 650, and am off to NYC for a few days of touring. I have downloaded some NYC POI from the library here and set the GPS to "Pedestrian".

When I zoom in as close as possible on streets in NYC, there are /so/ many POIs there that the icons all clump together and it's really tough, without tapping the screen with a pen point (ball point retracted), to dope out what's in each clump.

Is there some trick to this? Folks here know so many cool workarounds; I was hoping someone had scoped out a way to deal with this problem.

Many thanks for any help,

.

Nope. Unfortunately, there's no trick to be able to do that.

The only thing you could do is to search on the menus instead of using the map.

OK, guess...

...I have to learn to live with the clumps or, as you suggest, switch to individual menus

Thanks for confirming that, Mamma

Smaller Icons

One thing that helps is to use smaller icons. Most icons are around 24x24 which is fine when you look at just one but tends to cover a large area and clump together in other cases. I have reduced several icons to a smaller size, like 14x14. It helps.

However, many POI locations are not entered that precisely and often, all the businesses at one intersection are shown much closer on the screen than they actually are.

Yes there is a trick. Be in

Yes there is a trick. Be in 3D mode, touch the map to go to the moveable one. Bring road with the icons you want to see to the bottom of the screen. They will separate better as you reach the bottom.

Trick to it

Thanks for that tip, tampa8. I will try it this weekend when I go to Raleigh, NC.
