You should be able to obtain Mapsource without charge from Garmin. Do a search on this website for Mapsource to see various discussions on how to obtain it.

Don't Need to buy Mapsource

While I have a Nuvi 660 - if the both models can show up as an external drive on your computer - why could you not copy the favorites.gpx file from one to the other. You will find this file in the directory called garmin. It should work

Re: Sorting Favourites

In the Nuvis, they are displayed by proximity to your present location, or, you can select another location, and see the ones closest to that by proximity - and as far as I know, there is no way to alphabetize them.

I believe that the 330 doesn't show up as a separate drive. Your idea would be the easiest way if it did.

330 Does not show as a Drive

You can go to www.gpsu.co.uk and download their freeware GPS Utility. It will read your Favorites and save them as a gpx file which you can then load onto your other GPS unit.

You the Man...... Thanks for the help everyone.....

Don't buy it

Don't buy Mapsource, you can get it free from Garmin. Just go to their web site and request it. I e-mailed a question about Mapsource and they are the one's that said they would send it to me at No Charge. Just go online to garmin.com and send them an e-mail. I also have the StreetPilot C550

MapSource

I called last week to get the new DVD of mapsource and they also told me that it will take about 6 weeks to get.. Most of the users here get theres in about one week.. I hope to get mine soon.

What will I be able to do with the programs when I do get it.. I hear some of the features work in differnt ways.. I have a Garmin c530.

Thanks

Using Mapsource with the c530

Usage is limited. The main function you can use is to copy your favorites back and forth between the c530 and Mapsource. I use this to obtain long/lat data for some of the sites which I identify by setting as a favorite when I am at a site. For example, if I see a red light camera, I touch the car icon and set the location as a favorite. When I get home, I extract the data and can send it to Miss POI to add to the red light camera POI.
Another usage is to do an overview of a long trip at your computer prior to the trip.

both would be helpful

Then having the software would be helpful for me. I want to do a overview but it takes to long when you do it on the gps. I think it is in realtime or near.

Also I would love to save the favorites to the pc.

So I can use it to create POI too then?! that would be very helpful.
