Can't enter an address- Nuvi 260

If it has been this way since the update do a reset before trying anything else. Also just be sure it is asking for the input to be a city not a street or street address....

I apologize, the first prompt is asking for the State/Province. I've tried several states with no luck.

Now I have to ask a stupid question, how do I reset? I see a label on the bottom that says reset. Do I just push by the label and for how long? Will this clear my favorites and other stuff??

Found the reset, I think. I pushed the button in and it shut the unit off. I would of thought that it turns the unit off and then on. Anyhow, still doesn't work.

I think that you have to spell the whole state name, no abbreviations. See if that helps.

I tried 6 different states spelled out, still no luck. Its weird, I can go to where to ->POI, then "Near" and it will find citys??

I think I might put my old map back on and see what happens.

the system automatically completes the state names as you type (Where to>Address>Spell State/Province). Then once you select the state the system advances to the city.

Were running version 5.0 with 2009 maps. Hope this at least clarifies how it should work.

Just updated to Ver. 5.0 on my "updated" Nuvi 260 and have no problems entering addresses in other states - cities etc. Acts just like before.

Maybe I missed it in a post or I'm too dense to find it but what changes are included in updateing from Ver 4.8 to Ver 5.0

Any chance your GPS thinks you are in Canada or somewhere? Can you change Countries.....

The first option I have is to enter "State/Province". I just tried Onario and it couldn't find that either. Good thought though!

You do have the map checked to enable it, right? I am not in front of mine but it should be under your maps icon.

I don't think we have the same settings Daniel. I don't think I have an option to enable/disable the maps. Everything on the map works except that I can't go through "Address" to manually enter an address.

p.s. I meant Ontario above lol

is talking about checking the map enabled settings under Wrench>Settings>Map>Map Info (bottom) and check the box or the 2009 maps. Just to clarify where the map setting is on our 260 anyway.

I went back to the original 2009 map without the 2009 update. As to what Daniel suggested under map info, it is interesting that I did not have the "[1] ALL" on the update map that did not work, but my original map has it. Oh well, at least its working. Thanks again for all the help!!!!!!!!!
