I had been posting this under the Cross Streets thread, but I figured I would start a new discussion as the other thread was getting too complicated.

To catch anyone up who wasn't following that thread, When RT retired his POI Verifier I decided to play around and duplicate some, but no where near all of his functionality. I wanted a program that would find duplicates in a file.

Anyone who wants to is free to download and use it, it's still pretty new and I'm sure there are bugs.

Let me know what you think, and if there is anything that you would like to see added. I will look at suggestions and see which ones I can put in with the free time I have.

For those that were following the thread. I updated the program tonight to be better at displaying the text. Before a large POI file might cause the program to appear to lock up. Now it will handle large files better and display the output a lot smoother.

Looking good. Output progress as the program runs is nice.

Looks great. Ran in seconds and created a new file for comparison.

Updated

I have updated the program. It now states when there was an exact match, and when there was a proximity match. It's amazing the number of duplicates that are in the big files.

Especially for files like Walmart / Sams club combined. You will find that there are separate locations but close enough that it will show duplicates. So you have to look at each one and make sure the data isn't the same. That is one reason I like the store numbers in column 3.

Nice program.Use it a few time and like the results.Have one comment.Any way you could add check for updates to make sure we have the latest file?In case you make any changes?

Check For Updates

I'll look around a little bit and play with checking for updates, but since I'm having it hosted at a free site I'm not sure how much luck I'll have.
