nRoute

Have been using nRoute + GPS18 on PC when travelling worldwide. The new City Nav. Europe 2009 AND future City Nav. North Am. will not pop up in nRoute. These updates will NOT be placed in C:\Garmin, and consequently not end up in the register! Information from Garmin US-support.

I was having aproblem populating the NA 2009 maps into MapSource. Garmin had me extract the files, then go find them in the temp folder and just copy them to where they needed to be. Maybe that will do the trick for you as well.

nRoute

The problem with the new software from Garmin is they are installed in c:\Documents and settings\all users\application data\garmin\maps..... and NOT c:\garmin. nRoute will not find them. Why Garmin changed their practice, I don't know. Maybe because it has been possible to use the unlocked maps in MapSource in nRoute for free, using GPS18 antenna!

They changed so that they

They changed so that they could continue to be Windows Compliant Software. Being Windows Compliant makes it easier to obtain and use the Windows APIs to write their software.

There are also probably legal technicalities to claiming to be "Windows Compatible" software.

nRoute

Maybe, but Garmin informed me that they will fade out the support to nRoute! This indicates the purpose is to stop nRoute. Who knows?
