nuvi 265wt traffic bug

Basically, the unit is unable to "Find Traffic on Route".

I connected the traffic receiver and checked to see where there was traffic. Made sure the "avoid traffic" was disabled in the avoidances so that the unit would try to route me through traffic. The beauty of the route I chose was that the traffic was on a bridge that had to be crossed, so there was no way it could route to a parallel side road. Then I checked the route to make sure that the road with the traffic was indeed part of the route. Then in the traffic area I chose "Search for traffic on route" - NADA traffic found.

I called Garmin support today to report this issue and the support tech told me they are aware of the issue and are working on a fix. Might be useful for others to try to replicate this problem, document it as I did, and then report it.

Well, well now...

I reported something similar in regards to traffic data a couple of weeks ago in various forums including this one except it was regarding the 7x5 series. Only one reply from one user stating he saw the same issue and wanted the backdate procedure to revert to v2.50 which does NOT have this problem.

Does the software version that you're seeing the problem with happen to be one with ecoRoute? This is the same thing I'm seeing with the 765T with v3.00 & v3.10 where ecoRoute was introduced. It does NOT affect v2.50 which does NOT have ecoRoute. Seems as if it's also affecting other units like the 2x5 series as well as the 7x5 series...

I've tested this bug 100's of times now, backdating & updating. Glad to see it's not just me.

My guess would be if you backdated your firmware to the non-ecoRoute version, this issue would go away as it has for me using v2.50 non-ecoRoute for the 765T.

Seems as if something is now very screwy with traffic data, and -possibly- being caused by ecoRoute.

Thanks

Yes, it is the updated firmware with EcoRoute. Funny, the tech immediately asked if I was fully updated.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will try it. I did read your post a while ago and forgot about it. My situation is a little different. I noticed yesterday that it was trying to route me through traffic. The traffic showed on the map and corresponded exactly to what was in the list, but the routing seemed to ignore the traffic data even though at that time I had told it to avoid traffic (unlike in my test above).

Now I have to try to find the old firmware. *sigh*

Problem solved

Well....it would seem that my traffic troubles are related the 2009.11 map update and not the GPS unit itself. If I roll back to the old maps, my traffic works again.

It would appear from this and what other people (e.g. the 7x5 units) that the 2009.11 map update was not ready for prime time.

This must be the problem that I'm expeirincing

I seem to have similar traffic issues on my 265wt. I no longer get the traffic icon since I've updated to 2009.11

Same here

I also hav ethe 2009.11 maps and 4.80 software and no problems at all with the traffic icon. I am using it on both the 265wt and 205w.

Clarification

I don't lose the icon...its there but always green. And if I have a route entered and hit the button "Traffic on Route" it always comes up empty, even when I've purposely plotted a route through known traffic issues as reported by the "Browse Traffic" button.

It could be because I've loaded 2009.11 on an SD card and left 2009.xx intact on the unit (disabled through Tools->Settings->Map->Map Info then cleared the check box). The issue may go away if I replace the on unit maps with the updated ones.

But as it stands, if I disable the on unit maps - bad karma. If I have both sets enabled - bad karma. If I disable the SD card set (the updates) - no problems.

I figured out my problem
