Nuvi Bluetooth Problem

Was curious if anyone else had this problem since this is my third device and the problem continues.

I have a 265wt (Nuvi) after several days of being paired with my iPhone it starts shutting off, then coming back on. If I disconnect my bluetooth feature from talking with my iPhone then the GPS unit stays on.

I'm calling tech support tomorrow but wanted to know how many of you had this similar problem or may have experienced this once before. I've googled the issue and found only a few people complaining of this.

Thanks for any feedback,
Scott

765T

Scott,

I have had the same problem with my 765T when using Bluetooth, the FM transmitter, and the MP3 player at the same time. I have not done anything else with it yet.

Nuvi bluetooth problem

I have had the same problem with my 265wt. I am trying to pair it with an iPhone. I have contacted support via email 3 times. They provided solutions, but none seem to work. At first, the gps shut off within seconds of turning on. The last solution allowed the gps to work for 3 days, then it started shutting off automatically again.
If you get a solution, I hope you post it.

Saschia.................yes,

Saschia.................yes, mine does the same. Its about 3 days and then it starts shutting off again. Tonight I went and reloaded the software even though I had the current version and it seemed to fix the problem. You should do the same and lets see what results we get.

Are you looking for a response from a Garmin representative on this site? That's not going to happen.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

In general I place the blame

In general I place the blame on the bluetooth technology, rather than the devices.

I was an enthusiastic user of bluetooth a couple of years ago, but after all the problems with bluetooth I gave up on it and now just use wired headsets.

I had problems with bluetooth headsets randomly disconnecting with my Razor, and also refusing to lock onto my blackberry mobile phone after a while. I can't recall a single instance where bluetooth simply worked, and worked reliably for a long time.

Sad to say it, but bluetooth is simply not reliable or robust enough for my daily needs.

Nuvi Bluetooth Disconnect

I had similar problems pairing my Nuvi 660 with a Palm Treo 750P. Download of most recent operating system seems to have corrected the problem.

Bluetooth runs in the same frequency band as WiFi and all the other 2.4 GHz unlicensed devices. It's possible you are getting disconnected from interference rather than a failure of either the headset or device. The range for most bluetooth devices is about 10 meters or 30 feet but there are some bluetooth devices that operate with higher power meaning at distances up to 100 feet or more.
