Changing coordinates of POI or Favorites Location

You mentioned two scenarios, POI and Favorites. If it is your favorites that are off, there are some programs available that will let you edit the Favorites file. NuviEditor is one. Search the archives on this site for the download location.

If it is a POI file you downloaded from here, note the correct coordinates and submit the correction to either the POI file maintainer by clicking on their name and then the contact tab. You can also post the correction as a message or send the correction to Miss POI.

If it is one of the factory supplied POI locations that is off, sorry just live with it as these can't be changed except by the manufacturer. You can send a note to them stating the correction needed and it may get corrected in some future release.

If it's a POI that is built in, you can't change it. For a Favorite, I generally save it, then delete the original and edit the new one to reflect the proper information.

If it is from a POI file that you uploaded, then again, save it. Later you can connect to your computer and download your Favorites to Mapsource and retrieve the coordinates and update your POI file.

It's a slightly cumbersome procedure, but it works. If it's a downloaded POI file, be sure to notify the maintainer of the change.

Do be aware, a lot of POIs are located by their address, which in the case of a location in a shopping center, the location shown will be the street address of the shopping center and not the entrance off the street, and not the actual location of the business.
