I recently reformatted this file. I am presently comparing each line item to the listing on the KFC official website. This includes adding new locations, deleting locations not shown on the website, correcting phone numbers and addresses. I am presently working on New York state. This has been quite a task and I am now looking for volunteers. The states that still remain are; Ohio, Oregon, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, Wiconsin, West Virginia and Wyoming. Anyone interested in helping with this Project please let me know.
In addition, the KFC website does not show any KFC locations in either Montana or Hawaii. If anyone has any locations in these states, please let me know.<>
At www.kfc.com, the store locator requires a zip code. I can copy & paste the return list into a spreadsheet, write a few simple formulas to properly format the data into a csv file, input into GeePeeEx for batch geocoding, and output gpx and csv files.
Is there an easy way to get all stores for, say, PA? Not sure I want to input hundreds of zip codes into the store locator for a single state like PA.
I wish that I knew of an easier way. I am having to compare the existing file line by line with the website data . If you click on advanced search, you can than type in either an address or city and state, but it still means line by line. I have been putting in a city and state and that gives me a listing of locations. I than check this against the existing file. If you know of a quicker way, please let me know.
Since I posted the first note, I have completed Ohio , Vermont and West Virginia.
I see the Advanced Search now. When entering just "PA" it only returns 4-5 results which is incomplete. (Entering "18103" returns 7 results.) So, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to get a listing of an entire state.
As I stated in my first reply, I do know how to speed things up but we can't get a long list of stores to take advantage of my method.
Go ahead with your method. There are some more files that should have the same kind of review. Wendy's, McDonalds, Pizza Hut,etc. Any method of speeding things up , has got to be better than the method I am using.
I don't know an efficient method for using the store locator and don't really have the time to do hundreds of copy/paste operations per state. I'm going to keep watching this thread for now.
You may try this.
I don't know how up-to-date it is.
I just went to this site, I clicked on a number of locations where there are KFC's and it came up as 0 available! So I doubt this will help!
