Thanks

I ran Webupdater at about 9:30am PST and it wasn't up then.

I ran it at 6:30PM EST

added the EcoRoute less fuel option to fastest and shortest, plus the ability to enter a vehicle profile and local gas price numbers to calculate the cost of a route.

haven't tried it in the car yet.

Everyday is a GREAT day :)

The software for the 2x5

The software for the 2x5 series was updated to version 2.80 today. I notice some slight interface changes...for example, when depressing a "button" it turns very yellow. Did not notice this before. Also noticed that the touchscreen seems to respond faster. Note that "ecoroute" deletes the "total time" readout from the trip computer and replaces it with "fuel cost". The change list is much shorter than for the 7x5.

Problem after installing v3.0...

Hi folks, quick question,

After I installed the new v3.0 software on my Nuvi 765T, WebUpdater can no longer find the unit on my PC.

I get the following error message:

"Some devices were found; however, none have the necessary capabilities. Please make sure your device is connected to the computer and turned on..."

Also the program on the Garmin site to install the new map version could not find the unit either.

I tried turning it off and waiting before trying again, but no luck. I tried sending a email to Garmin Tech Support but it wouldn't go through.

Any ideas on what I need to do to fix this issue?

Thanks!

my 765T is recognized by my XP machine after upgrade

but strangely, as it mounted the drives, I got a brief display on the nuvi screen stating that my maps were a year old, and that I should consider upgrading, or something to that effect.

as one of the newer models in the Garmin line, it came with the 2009 maps (plural, meaning it had the 3D maps too)

has anyone else seen that?

one other thing I noticed after upgrading to 3.0

my custom routes on my 765T were gone

they appear when I touch the import button, ready to be chosen for import, but they were no longer under the custom routes icon...instead it said there were no routes and asked if I wanted to create one.

have others seen this?

or am I special? grin

Re: my 765T is recognized by my XP machine after upgrade

Yes, I got the same message on mine as well about upgrading the maps. Although it won't let me upgrade because it can't find the device.

Also, my XP machine does recognize the Nuvi when plugged in with the USB, but Garmin WebUpdater does not.

Try WebUpdater and see if it works for you.

seems to be working fine

said there were no new firmware updates, and the next screen of optional updates just showed voices

not likely your problem, but try another USB cable

Is there a new map for the 765T

I also have the 765T and it currently has the 2009 verision, but i can't tell if it is the .1 verision or not. so jim, did you download a new map too?

Re: Is there a new map for the 765T

The .1 map was just released by Garmin on 1/21/09, so you will have to install it.

no

I have not yet installed the update from yesterday.

I bought my 765T in early November, so I am not within the free upgrade 60 day period.

I am hoping to get enough feedback here to make a good decision as to whether I want to buy the lifetime maps.

Same problem here with my 765T, I even switched USB cables. I also own a streetpilot C550 it was found and connected normally via WebUpdater. I just sent a message to Garmin.

I forgot to note that I have access via windows explorer when connected via USB cable, in other words windows XP sees my Nuvi 765T

I tried unit reset and that worked, I am now able to use the webupdater again.

It would be interesting to find out why the reset was necessary after this update. I have a streetpilot c550 that I have updated the software over 10 times without needing a reset.

reset

could you please quickly explain how to do a reset on a 765T, in case I find the need to do so? rolleyes

765T Reset

I knew I had seen it somewhere.

after discovering this wonderful place, and come to depend on it as my first source of information, I had totally forgotten that I had downloaded the manual redface

thanks so much

Remove SD card

I had the same results with my 755T. Reset didn't fix it, but I removed the SD card, then WebUpdater worked correctly again.

765T reset...

I was finally able to get WebUpdater to recognize the 765T again.

After talking to someone on another forum who had the same issues, it turns out I had to do a "hard reset" to clear up the problem. You do this by holding your thumb down on the bottom right corner of the screen while turning the unit on. You will get a message asking if you want to reset the unit to factory defaults or something like this and just follow the prompts. You will also loose any favorites you had saved (I had to re-enter them later), but after doing this the unit is working really great and back to normal.

Good Luck!
