I'm looking at 4" to 6" of snow by morning, and -10 to -15 actual temp. And by this time next week, they're threatening it will be above freezing.

Thought for the week

Gerrold's Laws of Infernal Dynamics:
(1) An object in motion will always be headed in the wrong direction.
(2) An object at rest will always be in the wrong place.
(3) The energy required to change either one of these states will always be more than you wish to expend, but never so much as to make the task totally impossible.

Subject: Best Way to Lock your car

I locked my car --- as I walked away I heard my car door unlock I went back and locked my car again three times. I looked around and there were two guys sitting in a car in the fire lane next to the store. When I looked straight at them they did not unlock my car again.

How to lock your car safely

While traveling my son stopped at a roadside park. He came out to his car less than 4-5 minutes later and found someone had gotten into his car, and stolen his cell phone, laptop computer, GPS navigator briefcase.....you name it ... Called the police and since there were no signs of his car being broken into- the police told him that *there is a device that robbers are using now to clone your security code *when you lock your doors on your car using your key-chain locking device..
They sit a distance away and watch for their next victim. They know you are going inside of the store, restaurant, or bathroom and have a few minutes to steal and run. *The police officer said *...to be sure to manually lock your car door-by hitting the lock button inside the car, that way
I just had someone send this to me and thought it was quite interesting. I have a unit that can give me radio frequencys if I am standing next to you when you key the mic. Never thought it could happen with door locks.

if there is someone sitting in a parking lot watching for their next victim it will not be you. When you hit the lock button on your car upon exiting...it does not send the security code, but if you walk away and use the door lock on your key chain- *it sends the code through the airwaves where it can be stolen, something totally new to us...and real *... Be aware of this and please pass this note on..look how many times we all lock our doors with our keys...just to be sure we remembered to lock them....and bingo someo ne has our code...and whatever was in the car...can be gone. surprised

AC is dead.

Just got back from Atlantic City and the casino at the Trop sounded like a library...

Ahh..Snow Globe

Today is the last day for our latest sunrise.

So today the sunrise was at 7:02 AM in Baton Rouge as it has been for the last 11 days. Tomorrow sunrise will be at 7:01 AM... With both sunset and now sunrise adding daylight minutes to the day, Daylight Saving time will be here before we know it. (I guess this qualifies as "Chit Chat"...)

RE: Best Way To Lock Your Car

Sadly, it looks like internet Email hoaxes have come to poi-factory.com. This one's a good example. Ten or twelve years ago, this may have been easily accomplished by the casual thief. Today, most remotes employ rolling codes. These codes change each time you use your remote. Should anyone wish to read about this hoax, simply follow this link to Snopes.com:

KEELOQ® Clone-Safe Code Hopping

I have a viper alarm that also is cut into my door locks, with remote starter. It does what is called code hopping using KeeLoq technology.

KeeLoq is used in the majority of remote keyless entry systems by such companies as Chrysler, Daewoo, Fiat, GM, Honda, Toyota, Volvo, VW, Clifford, Shurlok, Jaguar.

KEELOQ® is based on a proprietary, non-linear encryption algorithm that creates a unique transmission on every use, rendering code capture and resend schemes useless. The algorithm uses a programmable 64-bit encryption key unique to each device to generate 32-bit hopping code. The key-length and code-hopping combination reduces the possibility of unwanted access.

So go get some sleep!

Feels better tday

Finally, it warmed back up here in south Alabama. My hubby, from Massachusetts, was threatening to divorce me for breach of promise or something. I'd told him it would be around 70 degrees for much of our winters here in Mobile. I was only off by about 50 degrees this week. But now it is back around 60, although I expect a few more days hovering around the freeze numbers.

Just to be safe, all my tropicalesque plants have little coats all over them. It looks like a yard full of spooks.

However, the sunporch he is building with 1/4" polycarb panels, had a temp of 75 without a heater on, just with sunshine for a few hours yesterday. We are now in the process of pouring self-levelling cement and then the Italian porcelain terra cotta colored tiles. It will be my favorite room, with hanging baskets of plants, and my two African greys in new white cages. And hubby's new reading chair and lamp....
