nuvi 205 custom poi

I made a poi file" redlight.csv" and noticed in the morning driving north to south I dont get a alert but in the evening driving south to north it works. can anyone tell me why this happens?

?

Where did you position the coordinates? Middle of the street or to one side?

saw the same thing

Same thing happened to me with my 760 the other day. Got to an intersection, noticed the 'red light camera' sign on the side the road, but no notification on the Nuvi. Came back through the intersection the other way a bit later and it alerted me as always. Only thing I can figure is that the intersection is a pretty good sized one, and maybe the coordinates were set up closer to the opposite corner I was on when it did not go off. Oh well.

Coordinates must be dead center

Your coordinate must be dead center in the intersection in order to trigger from all 4 directions. Otherwise, you'll have to put one on each corner if the cameras are only east-west, for example. When getting coordinates using something like Google maps, you have to be zoomed all the way in to get precise positioning.

The coordinates were on 1

The coordinates were on 1 side of the road and some were off the road for example the center of a building or parking lot

Correcting Coordinates

Perhaps the best way, and certainly one of the easiest ways of correcting the coordinates is to use www.itouchmap.com. Option 10 opens the Lat/Lon page and you can move the pointer and place it in the exact spot needed. From there, near the bottom of the page, you can copy the cursor coordinates and paste them into your POI.

Well . . .

That is undoubtedly the problem. Are we to assume that this was just a test file where you took an existing file of businesses and added "redlight" to the name to see how it worked? Otherwise, I don't understand why you would use the coordinates of a building or parking lot for a redlight camera.

Yes This was a test file .

Yes This was a test file . so you are saying if the coordinates are on 1 side of the road it will only alert you if you are on that side of the road?

Thanks I will try that.

.

The POI location must be within 50 feet of the road on which you are traveling in order for the alert to sound.
