885 MSN Enhancments for 7x5?

Already seeing enhanced traffic information (useful)
without the update on the 780

These new features do NOT look like they will be available on the 7x0 series Nuvis! (With the exception of Smart Traffic which was introduced a couple months ago).

If you click on "devices" on MSN's site, then click the different Garmin devices, only the newer 7x5 and 2x5 devices show the radar and flight status icons. The 8x0 and 7x0 models don't. Oh well.

I would have loved to have the flight status functionality on my 760. Oh well, I will have to use the internet for that.

I am glad about the doppler radar - especially in the winter an idea of what's coming your way in terms of weather is a great idea.

I called MSN Direct support today and they told me that for the time being this enhanced service is available only for 7x5 and 2x5 series but they may add other models in future.

My method of choice:
You can also sign up on each airlines website to text your cell phone/blackberry for delays/cancellations, arrival/dep times, gate info/changes, etc. You will get your updates before they are updated on the flight monitors in the airport. Also, the likelihood of having your GPSr turned on in the airport is not very high.

This evening I received message on my GPS from MSN Direct to check www.msndirect.com/updates for enhanced service.

They are adding few more services e.g. Flight Status, Doppler Weather Maps. They have also added more coverage for traffic as well.

This upgrade will be available through Garmin webupdater soon.

I currently just use my blackberry to check flight status. It would be nice to also have this ability in my GPS especially since I like to check flight status when I am picking someone up from the airport
