POIs on the Garmin Map

I have a Mio and you can have it show POIs on the map as you're driving around.

I used my new 255 today and it doesn't show any POIs on the map. Garmin has icons in the favorite area to add to the places you save but are icons something that Garmin Maps don't show? Only my "home" location has an icon on the map.

Is there a setting I'm missing to have them show?

It is probably not a big deal but it seems odd to me that they would have icons but not display them onto the maps.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

i think the only time you

i think the only time you can see them is if you go where to then browse map othe than that i dont know of any other way to see them

POIs

Hit the minus button to change the scale to a lower scale. I don't know how far you have to reduce the scale, but they will show up.

PLUS, not minus. It is different for each model, but the things to try are zooming in (not out), tapping the screen to enter browse mode and then zooming in, or choosing a 2D (not 3D) mode and then trying these things. There must be a thousand posts asking this one question.

POIs on the Garmin Map

Thanks for the replys.

I played around with the where to> browse map and the icons did pop up. You do need to get really close in for them to start showing. I probably won't be using this feature much as it seems easier to just search with the where to> POI function.

My Mio has a function that you can see them on the map and if you touch the name its info pops up. This isn't a better feature just different.

I didn't think that it was something that was asked ... I will search next time.

Thanks Again!

You are absolutely correct. With 6 million built-in POIs, if you were in a business district and the icons showed when zoomed out, the icons would totally cover the screen and you couldn't see anything. It's a tradeoff.
