RoadMate 1412 doesn't "see" my SD Card

Hi, I just got a 1412 for Christmas and I've been trying to load some custom POI files (.mgln), but my Magellan only seems to recognize file in its internal memory.

I grabbed on old 512MB card out of my camera (since the 1412 doesn't come with its own SD Card) and added the path USR\CPOI\... I even renamed the card "TFAT" but when I go to My POI's to select the file, it only sees files stored in its internal memory.

Any help ???

Thank you in advance !

Card too old ??

The "old" card may not be compatible.

Roadmate users can help more.....but have patience; there aren't many of them here.

I realize this is an old post, but did you ever gets yours to work?

My refurbished 1412 came with a 2GB SD card with 483MB free. Custom poi files are visible when added in the root of the SD card or in the USR/CPOI in the TFAT.

Root Directory! Thanks!

That was just the information I was looking for!

SD Card

In my Magellan Roadmate 1412, I use a PNY Optima 2 GB SD card, the card has been formatted to file system: FAT, when the card is inserted into the GPS, the card is setup in the lock position, use the slide switch on the side of the SD card and move it to the LOCK position.

Question: Can't get it to save to the sd card that came with the unit.

Answer: Make sure the card is not locked.
