Accurate GPS Address Batch Processing Software or Methods

Does anyone have a suggestion or method for obtaining an accurate way to get the GPS address for multiple addresses? I am aware of GPS Visualizer and think it works okay sometimes, but there are times when the addresses are not accurate. It does not matter if the software is free or pay, I am interested in using it.

The truth is there is no software that is accurate on giving you precise coordinates. They all use an algorithm to estimate the address.

You will be good with GPS visualizer. As other say you can use other software that can integrate with yahoo or google. After you run you batch you have to verify everything if you want. Which I don't think you want too, which is why you are asking this question.

Programs such as GPSVisualizer are good for as far as they go. As many have found out when doing batch processing you have no idea as to the accuracy of what is returned. It may be the address, it may be the street, or the city - and even nothing if the program couldn't match anything. When doing single addresses GPSVisualizer will return the confidence level allowing you to either refine the search or seek other methods.

As it uses the Yahoo! interface, I often use Yahoo! maps and then do a search for the name of the business. If there is a match, you often get a street address or at least a pointer to a landmark so an intersection can be used. I then use something like itouchmap where I can position the pointer for a location. I also have access to other programs such as mappoint and Street Atlas that allow me to get coordinates based on the pointer position.

Bottom line - no batch program is 100% accurate and I have my doubts if they are even 95% accurate with a complete postal address.

Gee Pee Editor

I've purchased an inexpensive copy of Gee Pee Editor and I'm very happy with it. It will batch geocode (internally using the Yahoo interface) and return the type of accuracy (address, street, zip code, etc). When address is not returned, then I investigate those entries.

Integrating Yahoo maps is very nice. You can see the location without leaving the application, move the location slightly, and load the new coordinates back into entry. Nice feature.

Tim,
I agree with you. Why go to all these different sites and programs when this does pretty much everything. But the name is GeePeeEx Editor:

Free Batch Geo conversions

Hello,
new to site, have created some poi files with the help of the instruction posted on site.
i live in los angeles and use this free service:
http://stevemorse.org/jcal/latlonbatch.html
and it seems to be very accurate so far...

More about data than application....

The real issue with accuracy is about the data used to locate, not the ease at which you obtain the data. Most of the applications make best guesses of where addresses exist along the street. It would take an accurate 'point file'.

You can read more about the point vs. line concepts at
