Hey I was wondering as I read as many of these threads, if it is possible to set a how to area on this forum to where you can input you model of GPS and find out everything there is on how it works and how to load stuff on it. I see there is alot of the same questions being asked and I know there is a search but you have to read so much your eyes start to cross. It would also be nice to show pictures or screen shot to also see, some of use (Me ) can't always understand some of the lingo and the learning curve is very high.
Anyways it is a thought.
It's in the "before you get started"

This page has a lot of the "how to" questions. Many people get started without ever noticing the page.

Yes this is the threads I was talking about good info, but would like something more and easier for a dummy like me, some of the direction were not so clear!!!! I am a hands on guy and reading and understaning what is printed is sometimes hard for me.. Heck the fact that I can even use this computor and set up the GPS is amazing for me.

.
While not exactly your model specific, and is written towards another specific model, it works well as a nubies guide because most things Garmin are generic.

Still could be better

Gary has done a good job and I have spent much time reading his threads, but it takes alot of trial and error still, reading and understanding,, still would like a better step by step
It is easier to load computer programs on the computer due to the install wizard than some of this GPS stuff and the help tab on the poi loader is complicated to some extent not enough examples,, at least for me.. here an example this person would like to know http://www.poi-factory.com/node/19184 .
If there was a link that he could go to then he would have answers in very short time and not have to wait on one of the GPS guros to reply.
Theres got to be an easier way don't you all think.

Huge Project
Although a noble idea, a detailed instruction guide for each model would be a major project requiring hundreds of man hours. Garmin alone has something like 40 Nuvi models, each one slightly different. Plus you would have to address different computer operating systems (XP, Vista, Mac OS).
Heck, even Garmin can't produce a thorough users manual.
we need more nuvis!

Haha...yes, they're simply too busy producing new nuvis to add to the confusion.
nuvi 760, nuvi 765T, nuvi 855, nuvi 3790LMT, nuvi 3490LMT - SoCal area
Lets make it easy

I agree it would take alot so what if poi factory made it simple by putting 1 link to find all the answers to the simple questions like dwn loading poi's and mp3's, icons and how to do a poi file the easy stuff on one page and not multiable threads that have been posted that you have to read and click on and read and click on you get the idea,,,
I just think with all the knowledge on this site alone it could be simplified. One click shows it all. Just a thought.
