Is there anyway for the MP3s to sound better out of the radio speakers with the 660?

Audio

I play my MP3s through a Sony cassette adapter into my car stereo and they sound great. The quality of the MP3 files could be a factor.

mp3's

I have a 660 and have played music through a cassette adaptor; the quality of the sound was ok. I now have a car with an aux input and this has greatly improved all my music quality. I believe the equipment your using may not be the best and would not blame the 660 for the problem. Find a friend with the aux input and try out your 660.

Are you asking how to play mp3's via your radio or are you saying that you already have a way to play them through the radio and you want help making them sound better?

I'm talking about the reception, sometimes it fads in and out.

FM Frequency

I swap my Nuvi between two cars. One has an Aux Input jack, and the sound quality is excellent. I have to use an FM adapter in my other car and the sound is nowhere near as good. Finding an unused FM frequency can be difficult. I have also noticed that the volume seems to be dependent on the "quality" of the FM frequency as well.

depends where you antenna is

If your antenna is located in the windshield you have a better chance of getting decent FM reception. If your antenna is on the rear of the car, reception can be sketchy at best.

This is what I use, My radio does not have a AUX input so I bought one of these and it works flawlessly. The link below is a Ebay link but you can get one of these at Bestbuy, Radio Shack, or any place similar.

BobDee - that Sirius FM adapter seems to be what I've been looking for. One question though. The jack appears to be mono rather than stereo. Is that correct? Are you able to receive stereo sound or is it mono? Thanks.

count me in too

I use a Maxell brand adapter...terrific sound.

NOTE: I had to convert my mp3 alert sounds to wav format (and quit converting the ones I create at http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php from the default wav to mp3) because when playing mp3's while connected via the adapter, there is a glitch that will cause the mp3 alert to stop playing instantly, and causing the mp3 player to go to the next track.

From what I have read here in earlier posts, Garmin is aware of this, but has yet to fix it.

But using wavs for my proximity alerts instead works fine for me on my 765T. It is great how I can listen to mp3's at the volume that I want, knowing that Jill will interrupt the track temporarily, provide her gentle wisdom, and then resume right where I was.

This is especially great when listening to podcasts, audiobooks, and archived CoastToCoastAM radio shows on long trips. grin
