When I load a new custom POI all the others are erased

When I want to add a new custom POI I have to install every custom POI again and set all the proximity alerts each time. What a pain. How can I keep the old custom POI's in my Garmin and then add new ones as I find them without having to do the entire list all over each time? I know it creates a single file in my Garmin. Can I rename that file and then add new ones or will that new file not be recognized as housing the PoI's? What do I do?

Alternative Approach

Within the last couple days, a new poster (new to me and no icons) posted a very detailed and well written alternative approach to this -- and it eliminated the need to rename the POI.gpi file. He accomplishes this (if I remember correctly) by creating separate POI.gpi in subfolders on the unit. I was surprised to hear that the unit would use files in subfolders of Garmin/POI and I fully expected there would be a big discussion on the thread. NOW, I can't find it, and nobody else replied.

Hey . . . I found it. See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/17095 . Has anybody else tried this? The would achieve RT's goal without the added confusion involved in renaming files every time you use POI Loader.
