Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

It's Snowing in Baton Rouge

Once in about every 5 to 10 years we have snow with accumulation in our part of the country. Today happens to be one of those days. It's an event that the kids love because as expected school gets cancelled for the day. (Folks worry about having to drive on snowy and icy streets..)

Jackie,
When it ask you for the Street Name, just hit "Done" and it will give you the list of streets. You can just scroll down to 25 1/2 Rd.

One of the Dreams properties

Hi jkaplan, you should love it (depending on the hotel), we have been to Bavaro beach 5 times (one bad hotel) and can't wait to get back.

Thanks, speedy. We're either going to be at Dreams Punta Cana, Dreams Palm Beach or Dreams La Romana. Won't know which one unril we check in for our flight. But the deal was right, each of the hotels has a five-star rating, and it's going to be a heck of a lot warmer there than it is in Cleveland!!! YIPPEE!!

A joke is that Colorado River used to flow into Gulf of California near Mexicali. Now it terminates onto front lawns and golf courses in Los Angeles. rolleyes

Overused saying

I think I've heard that expression that "If you don't like the weather in (insert city here), then wait 5 minutes for it to change" everywhere in the country except for the American Southwest.

Here in Cleveland, Ohio it is used by TV weather-folk all the time.

maybe not over used

Not really related but . . . in the Navy we had a saying . . . "If you don't have a plan, you can't change it."

Maybe it relates to the weather, gps and life in general . . . I'm still trying to make sesnse of it.

That sand puts one heck of a drag on Santa's sleigh runners, thats why he does you folks last. when gets to Aussie people his bag is almost empty so the Rain Deer don't struggle in the heat pulling a fat man in a sled. Just remember when the easter bunny is hopping around it's just the opposite then. it all works out just fine. He hops on the beaches here and puts on a heavy coat for you guys.

No concessions? let them file chapter and Break the UAW

charlesd45 wrote:

Your right, all the UAW had to do was give up a dollar in good faith, now they will take it on the chin, the UAW IS AS GOOD AS BROKE. And that is sad to see happening, I remember my father working his ass of for near to nothing when I was a kid and the unions gave him and others a fair wage for a fair days work. But the UAW and outfits similar to it have outlived their usefulness and have become nothing more than a Mafia, you pay your protection money you keep your job even if your a drunk, drug user or just plain lazy.

I was raised in a union family and like the thought of what a union stands for, however when the country is in trouble and the UAW thumbs it nose at me and my representatives guess what, it time to break the UAW.

If the Autoworkers are like the biggest part of the american workers, they live pretty well and haven't given much thought to their future , GOD help them a few month down the road with the assembly lines shut down and plants closed as they get real hungry and start to lose their homes.

GOD Bless America
we need it!
As we start 2009 with
another Jimmy Carter!

How's this for Change...

41 degrees at 10:26AM; as of the time of this post - 15 degrees - looking to be 5 to 10 below by morning tomorrow with 20-30 mph winds.

At least it's a dry cold front - it got all the precip out of it in Montana, the Dakotas & N. Mn.

Cold is right. it is -30 here and not getting any warmer.

Not here

The snow is falling as I type this. We're expecting accumulation of 3-4 inches today, and off and on for the next few days.

The temperature dropped about 40 degrees yesterday, and the snow started last night.

A bad time for my brake light switch to fail on my 4WD truck. The part was cheap. Swap would've been easy if I can get my hands that far under the dash and around the steering column linkage. I'm going to have to take it tomorrow to a mechanic with the right tool (or at least a quadruple-jointed arm).

Now I know why

Now I know why I moved to FL 10 1/2 years ago from NH

71 degrees here oceanside.

4 of my kids (aka 40-50 year olds)are still without power up in NH. Fortunate having generators at 2 of their houses but concerned about pipes freezing in 2 others although they left some water running a little.
