Thank You POI Factory Folks!

As a first-time POI Factory visitor, I just want to say thank you so much for this web site and the work people do to provide POI files. This stuff is way-cool and we are putting it to immediate use.

My wife and I live, work and play on the road. We are professional truck drivers in a custom-built rig that provides all the comforts of home. While we have a home address, we like to say, "The truck is our home, the nation our back yard."

Several times a week we find ourselves in new locations looking for food, fuel, groceries, campgrounds, dump stations, stores, malls, entertainment, and more. These POI files are a delightful and exciting find that will make an immediate and positive difference in our lives. Of course we found these places before, but the ease with which we can now do so is a delightful plus.

Thank you, POI Factory people, for the work you do in making these files available. I know these files do not come into being by themselves. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. It is an awesome thing you do. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Welcome to the family

Eddie2564-- I would like to personally thank you Ateam! Without your efforts and time like so many others on the road. We, the people of the USA could not live without the deliveries that you all make all over. Welcome to the site and may all your journeys be safe ones. Thanks again!

Welcome aboard

Welcome to the group. The way we like to travel I sometimes wish we would have done something like what you are doing even though I imagine the trucking part of it is not all sunshine and roses.

One thing, if you would ever decide to do a POI you could probably get a lot of the coordinates first hand.

Miss POI

new here too

I'm also new here, it seemed better to add on to this thread than start a new topic with the same sentiment. I just got a Garmin nuvi 250 this week, previously owning an old Garmin gps 38 and then a Deluo usb device for use with a PC and DeLorme software. I knew I was setteling for price over features when I got the 250, but overall I'm pleased with it. They sure don't document much for users interested in doing a bit extra with their devices though, so I'm very glad to find this community.

Now time to go grab a POI file, see if I can manage to store it on the add-in micro-SD card and still use it rather than store it in the main flash memory. Also want to learn more about the track log and see if I can't use it with external software.

Welcome Frovingslosh!

I'm sure if you search the forums you can probably find everything you need to know.

If not, post a question and I'm sure the excellent people on these boards will answer your question.

Welcome,Ateam and Frovingslosh

You will find that you have become part of a wonderful community here, with your neighbors always willing to help you. wink

Welcome to the community and team. We are a very opinionated and helpful group smile

New here too...

hi,
I have just recently bought a MM 4250 and already made good use of it in WV (read middle-of-nowhere).

I just wanted to enhance the experience by adding more functionality and POIs into the unit but found the POI editor very 'basic', to say the least. I found this site and seems like it will be very useful.

Thanks to everyone for putting so much info here. I look forward to contributing to the forum.

welcome forgps;) it is nice

I haven't updated my C550 poi for 9 months. I have been very happy since the time I downloaded the poi here. Now I move to a new city in Texas, I will look for the new poi again for like goodwill store. My old poi did not have some of the stores. Thank you for Miss POI and all you people's contributions.

Totally agreed: this is a fantastic site, and the people who run it and maintain it (surely a huge task for a site of this size)have given us a wonderful resource!

I finally loaded my first set of POI's th other day, and they do things I'd never imagined. For example, the Ghost Town POI from this site is fantastic for a desert rat like me.

Thanks, Miss Poi, and all who work at this site. smile
