Trying to inport a csv file and its not working is there some thing i am wrong ¿
nuvi 5000 and nuvi 200w
This is the last time I am going to explain this, because it is in the original (very first) post and has been repeated a thousands times.
To import a csv file it must be in this format, no exceptions. Long,Lat,Name with Absolutely No Quotes Example: -116.00890,33.95290,Joshua Tree if you continue to experience problems after this point upload your coordinates here along with a screen shot of poimanager and I will be sure to personally do a test import.
If you make these changes it should be working as I tested everything before I released Beta Build 6.2.
thank you
there is no reason for u to be so short i was just testing your progam so what is the reason that it will not open the 3ed column with the address and info will not ask you another thing on this progam

Adobe AIR doesn't include a csv parser function. In order to get each field I had to split each row by the commas which causes problems.
Example: Lat,Long,Name will get parsed correct.
Exmple: Lat,Long,Name,"123 Some Road, SomeCity, Some State" will wig out the program and not import properly. Since Adobe Air is causing a lot of problems with csv importing I will write another class that will send the information to my server, parse it out and send it back to the application. This will allow just about every csv file on this site be imported without any problems.
I do encourage you to ask questions, I had a very stressful day so please excuse my rudeness. I will work on that class tonight and would like you to be one to test and out and provide some feedback, since from what I can gathered importing is a feature that is important to you.
it is important
it is important because when you have a poi that has stores etc. you need the address and info the gps do not bring you right to the right spot some times it is a little ways from where the gps tells you so you need the the real address as a reference i do super market resets and gas stations for pepsi so some times the store or gas station is down the street that is why its so important

I got the new csv parser in place and was going to upload it tonight, but Flex decided that it no longer wants to work properly. So throughout the week I am going to rebuild POI Manager. The forth field which usually contains additional information will show up in the description box. If its an address you can easily copy and past it into the proper fields.
Great program. I have had
Great program. I have had success exporting as a csv poi file but for some reason, exporting as a gpx file isn't working for me. It's probably me, so I will keep playing with it.
dstith76, Beta Build 7
dstith76 here is Beta Build 7 that I would like you give a test try. This build addresses the issue with csv importing. This process take a little bit longer because the information is sent to my server then returned back to the application, but it performs so much better then the old version.
There is one bug though: For some reason it will ignore the very first entry. I will try to find some time to work on this issue.

dstith76, we will eventually get this.

For this format you need to rename your file so that it has a .pip extension and import it via File->Import->Import Pipe.
When i do the layout the address went in the Description box not the street address box
If you are using a csv file it will go into the description box because there isn't a standard for csv files. Therefore I can't put the 4th column into the address bar because it may contain a description and not an address. But I am working on a new csv parser that will allow you to determine how the system will parse the information. This way all you would need to do is edit the very first line of the csv file to add Headers.
Eg: Long, Lat, Name, Address which would tell the system to parse the file in this format, which would also allow me to parse out the address into the proper fields.
Eg: Long, Lat, Name, Description which would tell the system that the 4th column is a description so it should go into the description box.
Sorry about the confusion.
Great Job!!!
Yesterday I downloaded the application and am going to start using it. The application appears to be very useful and I look forward to using it. Thank you for sharing the application with us.
Duplicate project name.
Using Beta Build 7 there seems to be a problem with exporting a project. I imported a project and it was auto named to "Imported", I then made a few changes to the descriptions, next I exported the project in csv format. Problem was the wrong "Imported" project was exported not the one I selected.
Stick to your time off and look at this when you get back.
Thanks

Yes I know this bug exists, I am currently working on it.
Welcome Back
Hope everyone had a great holiday and new years. I finally received my GPS and got a chance to mess around with custom poi, and it gave my some better ideas on how to improve my piece of software. I have started rearranging some items around and have added additional items such as speed and proximity alerts.
After I did all my playing around, researching, and thinking I may expand the system. I am thinking about building 3/4 systems in one. These would include: Points of Interests, Trip Planner, Tour Guides, and Music Manager.
I will not get around to these projects until Feb. because I am enjoying my winter break relaxing, doing photography, and messing around with my gps.
Glad to have you back.Can't
Glad to have you back. Can't wait to see the end product.Enjoy the break.

I am looking forward to the next releases.
Hope you have a great new year too and everyone here.
File Factory Site
#1 Great software.
#2. The download site sure fooled me. Lots of Boobs and Butt. Thought I had hit a porn site. Warn people about the ads on this site. :>)

Dumb me missed the new download site...
I did not go back into the site but used a link to that file sharing site. Sorry...

Beware of this hosting site
Hi, I got a trojan from either the software hosting site or Adobe (I doubt it was from there) After that "Anti-virus 2009" popups came up everywhere. It took me a day to find a program to get rid of them. My anti-virus and Ad-Aware didn't detect it.
I finally found a freeware program called, "Malwarebytes" it took it out quickly, but what a pain.
Be careful where you click on this site...Please!
I really like the program and appreciate the hard work from the author...but I don't trust this site.
Don't let people know you're having fun...they'll try to stop it! Nuvi 3490lmt,Nuvi 880, GPSV, Etrex Venture HC, Nuvi 750
Hoisting Site
"Anti-virus 2009" I got that same virus on my laptop one night and it enbeded so deep I had to have the hard drive dumped and reinstall everything and the Malware software you mentioned was the only one that could get it off. It was a night mare.

Awesome
Since I am not really techno savvy, I really appreciate when the techies create all of this stuff.
Back In Action
I would like to assure everyone that I am not dead, well at least not yet.
As promised I said I would begin working on POI Manager in Feb and today I ordered a crucial component to make the piece of software better then ever. When it arrives I will send in for my Flex 3 activation key since my trail version has already expired, and get back to work.
I will be starting completely over and will be using the old version as a baseline for the new software. This new version will be more eye peeling and will have a better less confusing layout, and much much more.
good to have you back

Features & Services
Today I am coming to you to find out what features and services you want as a gps users. These features and services can be either application base and web based. This way my team and I can put all the information we gather from you and come up with a reasonable system that all would enjoy.
Some ideas:
User Authentication : App/Web
Geocode Lookup : App/Web
Trip Planner : App/Web
Tour Guides : App
Live Chat : App/Web
Forums : Web
Search for Updates : App
Music Handler : App
POI Manager : App/Web

etc....
So begin listing features and services that you would like to see in the next version.
sounds incredible
as a relative newbie, I will abstain from adding any suggestions at this time, leaving that to the more experienced members, so as not to "muddy the waters".
but as the suggestions pour in, I will definitely join in and contribute

Sounds like this will not be freeware.
Addressing some issues.
The software will be made as freeware. Meaning you will not be charged to use the application and services. You will not see ads within the software nor will you be asked to pay for anything. Donations will be welcomed, appreciated and your name (if you opt in) will be listed on our supporters page, but it is not necessary. We are considering running one (and I mean just one) ad service either through Google or Yahoo.
Wow, thanks & pleeeze!
I'm relatively new to these GPS thingamajigs & have no talent for programming, so I want to pass along my thanks on a few fronts: one, for the software in general & two, for not forgetting that Mac users are out there! All the toys for GPS seem to be Windows only, it's good to see an exception.
I would like to humbly request that the program run locally on your machine. Web apps are nice but I'm always leery about entering personal information into public forms.
To that end, I tried to download your beta a while back & Leopard stopped me to warn that the program would have access to my computer & then asked if I would allow it to connect to the internet. I declined & haven't touched it since. I installed Adobe Air first... did I do something incorrectly?
Lastly, another request, if only a bit off base. Devise & include a TTS editor that we lowly Mac users can use.
Thanks again for sharing your talents!

Materials Arrives, Waiting on Adobe
I received my book today. I good 1000 pages so it will be a while before we see a beta. I have started to look through it and want to begin putting together some tests environments but I am currently waiting for Adobe. I should receive a response from Adobe for a Authorization Key so that I can continue to use the builder. In the meantime I will be slaving away at homework, reading this book, putting ideas together and so forth. But I will check in daily to answer questions, ask questions and to provide you with updates if I can.
Addressing Previous Post
"Warn that the program would have access to my computer" - This is correct. The application needs access to your Mac in order to save projects, and export projects.
"Then asked if I would allow it to connect to the internet" - This is also correct. Many of the services provided in the application requires use of the internet. These services are the Geocode lookup the Maps, and CSV importing.
Sneak Preview?

Is this something unique to Air? The reason I ask is that I've been loading software onto macs since the early 90's & don't remember ever getting those warnings & most programs allow you to save projects & export.
Thanks for your help.

It probably has to do with
It probably has to do with AIR and Leopard as I never received anything like that on my Tiger machine. The again the beta releases where never fully signed. But with the new system in process of being built it will be signed and distributed differently.
