MP3 sounds

I am new to the gps world, but am wondering if I can dowload an alert on mp3 file onto my streetpilot 330

No

The c330 does not have an mp3 player, so it cannot play an mp3 alert. However, it should play a custom audio alert that is saved as a wav file. Search for "wav Sox" and I'm sure you'll find the necessary info.

I'm not sure

I do not think the street pilots would play a wave file. You will only get a ding with the alert displayed on red.

Daniel,
Did you try older versions of POI Loader? I believe Phil Hornby reported that older versions would load a wav file onto the 330. I may be wrong.

The POI Loader version 2.4.0

The POI Loader version 2.4.0 should do it. Version 2.5.3 will not load wav files. You need a version of SOX to make it work. I believe Phil Hornby listed the site for the older versions of the POI Loader in a recent post. I load wav files on my NUVI 200w with 2.4.0 with no problems.
