Garmin C530 System Log

While on vacation Thanksgiving week, my Garmin C530 somehow jumped into a system log mode. The display showed several rows of text and numbers. I should have written down an example of the text but I didn't. In any case a series of BACKs eventually returned me to the map display.

The change occurred while filling up with gas. Not sure what caused the GPSr to jump into this mode. So I was wondering if someone might enlighten me on this occurrence. What was it and what causes this to happen? Can it be invoked manually?

By the way, I searched the site did not see anything posted on this... Perhaps, my search text wasn't the best.

Sounds like one or other of the Diagnostics screens...

Holding various parts of the "Speedometer" screen, or the "Time" take you to them (There's two different sets).

try...

Try pressing/holding the speedometer on the trip computer page for ~10 seconds. Is that the screen that you saw?

Will give it a shot and report back

I don't have the device with me at this time but will see if I can reproduce the screen from your above posts. Assuming it is what you think it is, what purpose does it serve and who uses this?

They are diagnostic screens which give you more detailed info about the unit. They also report instances such as unit crashes (abnormal shutdowns) & the like for testing purposes. They will allow testing of various hardware aspects of the unit (or hardware connected to it) like Bluetooth, the LCD display, the touch screen accuracy, traffic receiver data I/O and other such things.

I have...

I have a C530 and never had this problem. keep us updated.

So it is.

It is as both of you above had said. Holding down on the speedometer invokes the display. The screen displayed indicates that these are abend info lines showing RTL codes. Clicking each line then shows values for r1 thru r(?). If I had to guess I'd say these would be values maintained in the registers at abend time.
