Yesterday I was traveling up the Jersey coastline on RT 47. At my home i says the elavation is 100 some feet. When we were going up the coastline at random times I would tap Where am I and a few times it said i was negative 50 or lower. Anyone know about this??

My 750 does the same thing, it probably has something to do with the satellites!

Hmmm, didn't know a consumer model GPS would work in a submarine
Just a wild guess, did you happen to look at the accuracy number? If it was beyond 50 feet that could account for part of the error.

Wow, not much patience

Just for the record, it is perfectly NORMAL not to get very many responses in the FIRST 4-6 HOURS after a post.
As for the original question, it is possible that you actually WERE at or slightly below "sea level" at some points in your trip.

Accuracy isn't perfect with the altitude...
My model (Nuvi 350) is something like +/- 100' feet per Garmin's feedback when I asked them this question a few years ago. Sometimes it's precisely right, when I see an elevation setting in the mountain. Seems to be worse at ground level, with my car submarining a lot when I'm actually just a few feet above sea level. Who cares? It's not that critical, it's more for intellectual entertainment and curiosity for virtually everyone who is driving someplace.
