new member/ best gps between $200-250

I'm a new member and I need your advice on available GPS's. I have three models in mind they are MAGELLAN 1412, GARMIN NUVI 255w and GARMIN NUVI 260w. I am limited to 250.00. I need some input on these models. I don't need any bells and whistle. Thank You

I have had a Magellan 4450 and bought a Garmin Nuvi 250W on Ebay for $187.00. Then I bought a Garmin Nuvi 660 on Ebay. The 660 was upgraded to the Nuvi 680 because the seller was out of stock on the Nuvi 660. All of these units work great and I paid less than $200 for them because they were refurbished. They all have the same gurantee as a new one so I feel you are wasting your money buying new products. I have not been disappointed at all. So I suggest you check on ebay and watch the sales.

Take a look at the Garmin 750 & 760 both are in your range
Costco is selling the Garmin 750 for $199 and Amazon is selling the Garmin 760 for $249 including shipping.
The 760 adds the traffic receiver and bluetooth over the 750. Both of those whould give you a lot more features over the Garmin 255w or 260w models.

I just bought the 1412 at Circuit City $220 with a 10% off coupon. I was originally looking to get the 265WT but realized that Garmin doesn't show POI's on the maps like the Magellan did. So far, I haven't felt any remorse. I didn't need the bluetooth, but thought it would be convenient. Considering how much less I paid for this unit, I can afford to get a snazzier earpiece if I really needed a 3rd.

If it were me I would say the 255w over the 260w, but also look at the 750/760 series as they will add mp3. Garmin refurbished factory units are good quality - so a 660/680 would give you the wide screen.
Magellan service has not been the best in the past, and they just got sold. Something that I would think about....

I bought a new Magellan 4250. I had many problems with it, including the car adapter falling apart. I was not very happy because they wanted to charge me an additional $79.00 to purchase updated maps even though my unit was only 3 months old when the new maps came out. I turned it back in and I now have a Garmin 200 and a Garmin 760. Even the little 200 is better than the Magellan in many ways including better POI loader support.
