My Windshield suction cup mount failed!

I'm looking for ideas, I already know about the beanbag, and I don't like the idea of the vent mount and having the cold and/or hot air blowing directly on to the back of the unit! I need some innovating ideas! What do you use?

Garmin dash mount

I've been using the Garmin dash mount that came with my Street Pilot III ten years ago. It's still available separately, see

http://www.bestpriceaudiovideo.com/catalog/192/6641/?zmam=19...

It comes with an adhesive disk for mounting to the dash and releases the ball mount with the push of a button. I prefer this much more than the suction cups that they supply now. And yes it fits ANY unit that uses a ball and socket mount!

Could have been worse.

rjrsw YOU MUST DRIVE LIKE A FRICKIN MANIAC!!!

I just made a U-turn from a dead stop at a stop light. Startled the heck out of me when it came off the dash. Lucky it landed on the seat and it didn't damage the GPS. The dash in the vette is flat but pretty smooth texture on it with a Armor All UV protective coating.

You're lucky it was just a GPS. I once had that happen with a 32-ounce soft drink sitting (more or less) in a cupholder. Of course, it couldn't have fallen into MY lap... that would have been too easy. It fell into my wife's lap, and guess who had put the oversize cup in the undersized holder? (Yep,me.)

Looks like the mount is doing the job for you.

I bought a great bean bag at target for about $40.00. It never moves and my Nuvi is low so as to not distract my view thru the windshield. I always take the Nuvi off and store it in the glove box. The bean bag can easily be moved from car to car and I can put in the back seat when not in use.

I was skeptical about the beanbag mount, but it is just about ideal. It really does not slide, is removed in a second, moved to another car with no mounting, and can be put under my seat out of sight.

Never............

That's where I put mine, I never had any problems with it there!
