Traffic service?

My traffic trial has expired and I'm wondering how well Microsoft's traffic solution works compared to the default TTN(I think, 3 month trial).

1.Has anyone tried both in the same area, I travel in the DC/Baltimore area and I don't think the radio is an issue.

2.How long does it take for a MS live "send to" to get to the PND, and can I turn my 760 on after I do the send to?

3. Things change and I noticed the default Navteq traffic has recently gotten better, has MS?

Thanks.

Depends on what you want

Having the extra features (gas prices, news, etc.) on the MSN one is nice, but the traffic is much better with the GTM20 model with TTN (at least, here around Charlotte, NC). I have both, so it's been easy to compare.

Traffic Services

I don't know if you are considering the XM NavTraffic, but I used it and it's not very up-to-date.

I wouldn't spend the money for that particular service unless or until they improve it dramatically.

OK, it's clear I don't know

OK, it's clear I don't know what I have. My trial was with whatever came on the 760. It was quick, but when I got it 3.5 months ago was gave bad information. Things seemed to have changed as it got better information towards the end of my trial.

Now, what im looking for is a comparison between what I had and Microsoft's service. Has it gotten better or how does it compare to what I had.

If it's close I want to know about the "send to" feature.

I do also have MS live search on my WM phone and can tell you the gas prices are outdated....useless in today's economy. But MS Live on a PC does have good traffic reports, but there too it's a recent change.

So until INRIX puts feeds on these things I want the best I can get traffic wise.

Yes, I just got a

Yes, I just got a subscription for $60.00 until 2027(unlimited). And I just discovered they are now using INRIX data feeds(that may explain why it got better a month ago) but I don't think they include them all, like predictive etc.

Now if Garmin would get up to speed and offer the same gas price feeds the MapQuest mobile uses, they are updated 7 times a day and use fleet charged prices to get the information.

MSN "Send to"

I never 'timed' the send-to feature, but I have checked it within 1/2 hour to 45 minutes, and it's always there for me...

Very convenient, as I can search the map, pinpoint the area and click send-to. By the time I pack up and get in my car it's always there.

From the MSN Direct site

If MSN Direct gets traffic data from Traffic.com, why is traffic different on Traffic.com's website than on my GPS system?

In order for a navigation device to display and route around a traffic incident, the incident must be located on a road segment which has a particular type of location code assigned to it by map database providers. Traffic.com is not subject to these constraints on their website, nor is Live Search Maps which receives traffic information from Traffic.com today. As a result, navigation devices typically only display incidents that occur on major roads, whereas on websites incidents that occur even on small roads can be displayed using latitude/longitude coordinates.

Lifetime traffic

What about the lifetime traffic services offered with the Nuvi 7x5 series. Any comments?
