Export Tracks

I have a nuvi 200w.

I recently went on a rather long road trip. I have seen online where you can export your trip information and view it with programs like Google Earth or Garmin Road Trip.

I can figure out how to export my 'favorites' within Garmin's Road Trip, but can figure out the 'tracks?'

I may be understanding the 'tracks' concept totally wrong, but once I figure out how to find this data, I will be able to see the paths I took on my trip, correct?

Any help, ideas would be great!

I don't know about Road Trip

I don't know about Road Trip but I upload mine to MapSource, then save as a .gpx file which can be dragged and dropped right into Google Earth. You can download the latest version of MapSource form Garmin's website.

Does the 2xx Nuvi even do tracks?

I know the 7xx versions do.

My 260W does

You can do it without Google Earth "Plus"

You can load tracks into Google Earth even if you do not have Plus. Simply connect your USB cable and from Google Earth load the "Current.gpx" file from the GPX folder of the Garmin folder of your Garmin. Depending upon how you load it into Google Earth (including elevation), you can even look at the altitude of your track in 3D.

I accidentally hit the wrong button when I arrived at airport parking and even though my 750 was in a leather case inside my laptop bag, it tracked me on the bus, people mover, through the terminal, and off into the air (track logging stopped when speed exceeded 300 mph).

When I actually turned it on in the air it showed a speed of ~455 mph @ 33,000 feet (Max Speed 462 mph). I was disappointed that it did not save that track, but maybe it has to be set for Off Road or Garmin limits tracking speed for non-aviation units (my old GPS 45 would only track up to 99 knots, vs. 999 knots for same hardware with airport data).

I got MapSource with Topo US 2008 maps, and that shows data between each point of a track and elevation profile.

garmin 200 series don't

garmin 200 series don't support tracking. There is exception if you are using firmware 3.4. All other upgrade will eliminate that function.

200 series is just a basic machine, you can't expect more for what you pay.
