Its located in West Allis, WI.

This place sets the standard for Italian food in Orange County or anywhere for that matter. They started out as a local deli and expanded. Always crowded w/ about half being `to-go' orders. Every pizza is made w/ the finest meats & cold cuts. It's the freshest you'll ever find. The Cortina's Special Sub is a local's favorite, too.

OK, there are a few of these (maybe a half dozen), but this is the original location and still makes the best pizza of the bunch. Crust anyway you like (I prefer their thick crust) and just about any topping you can conger up. I like "The Duke" (named after John Wayne). It's topped with pepperoni, ham, salami, Italian sausage & meatballs.

I used to work here. It is a non-chain pizza joint that a lot of people like, but I'm not that crazy about the pizza. Thin crust and extra cheese is really EXTRA CHEESE. There are a lot better places in the NJ/NY area.

Can someone please define to what degree "non chain" is meaning for this POI. Yes I know the big chains such as Pizza Hut and Papa Johns are not wanted but there are some local establishments that may have 4 or 5 or may more locations within a town but are not franchised across the state or country. Should they be included?

This what I was hoping to hear. We have a one in our area that has about 4 location but they are all owned by the same owner / family.

Marris Pizza Restaurant has been family owned and operated for over 50 years. Just 2 blocks from Disneyland, it's a local's favorite. I love their extra thick crust pies (you need to ask for extra thick). They have a full Italian food menu too.

P&P has very interesting/exotic pizza toppings. Also TONS of microbrews. Located in the New River Gorge area.

Artichoke in nyc is a great pizzaria. there are several locations but just in case you guys are visiting nyc and need a late night pizza fix this location is open to 4am yes i said "4 am " The city never sleeps and its some good pizza !

Right in the heart of the Little Italy district in downtown San Diego. Family owned and operated since the 1950's, this is their original location. This is their original location. There a few others (each owned and operated by different family members), but definitely not a chain. They serve other Italian food, too. There is a deli in front, you walk through it and part of the kitchen to the 'grotto' in the back.
