Pizza By The Slice

There are POI files for Pizza Hut and Papa Johns and the like. The first place I take people who come to visit me is to get a slice of pizza. I would like to know where the good pizza by the slice places are. There is nothing better than stopping in a good pizza joint just to grab a slice. There are only 8 locations I have gathered from where I go so far. I know everyone has a place they go to just to get a good slice. Please submit your favorites.

This is going to be highly subjective

I can go to 5 or 6 locations in my town that offer pizza by the slice. I guess I've got one favorite:

Village Pizza
1 Green Street, #1
Medfield, MA 02052-2062

The more the merrier

We all know there is good pizza and bad pizza. If the pizza is good go ahead and list all the locations. When I travel I like to go to the pizza shops where the locals go. Pizza Hut and Papa John's just isn't the same.

Rocky Rococo Pizza

I just added a POI file on the Rocky Rococo Pizza franchise in Madison, WI. It serves the best pizza by the slice I know. It's a must anytime we are in one of the WI town that have one. Feel free to add it to your file if you wish.

Reminds me of a funny story...

I grew up in Brooklyn, NY. I moved a bit out of the way to a barrier island, but still work and spend a lot of time in the boroughs of New York City.

There are pizza places everywhere, even more than one on a block or across the street from each other. Unless you specifically want to order a pie, pizza is always ready by the slice. It is just the way it always was...

...until years ago I visited a friend who moved to Maine. I went into a (non-chain) pizza place and wanted to buy a slice or two. The guy behind the counter looked at me as if I was from Mars. No one sells pizza by the slice I was told...pies only!

It is an East Coast thing..

Not unusual to get that reaction elsewhere in the country, although it is more and more available. I suspect that the reason is the "New York" pie is cut into big wedges and you eat it by folding the slice. Thus it is "portable". Thin crust pizza here (Chicago) is a crisper crust and is most often cut in a "criss cross" pattern resulting in much smaller pieces. As for deep dish pizza, it is not reallly built for food on the go.

Problems with file?

Anyone else having problems with this POI file and the loader? I keep getting an error on line 1.

The coordinates needed to be flipped, sorry about that.
I think it will work now.

It would appear that he has the latitude in Column A and longitude should be in the first column.

Miss POI, am I correct?

Edit, daggone it, I'm just too slow.

pretty much any place in NY or NJ...

sorry no particular place to highlight, but most pizza places in NY or NJ will be worth noting - and that's a lot. Sure, the slices are typically folded for eating, but that's just to keep the grease in....

Did have some nasty pizza on a road trip through North Carolina, however....

Well, there's your problem. You should have been hitting the Barbecue places instead of pizza.

New York area pizza

Many say that the water makes the pizza (and bagel).

Anyway, in the New York area, it is usually easier to single out the bad pizza than pointing out the very good pizza...although there are a handful of places that are a cut above the rest.

Perhaps the same thing can be said of Chicago?

I've always found the folding feature most handy for pouring the grease off onto the stack of napkins I usually require with my pizza.

And someone mentioned the water. The NYC tap is the key to good dough in pizza and bagels. Even Long Island isn't the same. I remember hearing about a guy who does a good business in FLA because he has NYC tap shipped to him by the tankerful.

My Girlfriend

My G.F. works for a pizza chain, Papa Romano's. Occasionally she has to make deliveries. I changed her vehicle icon to the pizza slice. She wasn't too thrilled about it and made my change it back!!!
