Night / day mode on Nuvi 200

My Nuvi somehow knows when to make the map dark and light depending on the time of day. I am assuming that's programmed into the software somewhere...?

Can the user over ride this? There have been mornings when the sun is in my face and the Nuvi is on dark mode still, and there have been days when it's very dark because of a morning storm at sunrise and the Nuvi will be dark and then suddenly switches to the blinding white background.

Thanks!

you can select Day, Night, or Auto

Don't Be Afraid to Check Out the Settings

You can on my 660, and I'm sure you can on the 200 as well. Have you looked through the settings? My choices are DAYTIME, NIGHTTIME, or AUTO. It is located under Wrench/Display/Color-Mode.

Edit: I took too long typing. DJS was faster.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Thank you

Have you looked at the World Clock?

At least on my nüvi 750, there is a "World Clock" app. You can see where the day and night areas of the planet are at any time. Since it knows where you are, it knows whether is should be light or dark. I wish there was an override setting so it would shift to night mode sooner in the evening and later in the morning. I'm always switching mine to "Night" in the evening if I'm driving within about 20minutes of when it would go there with "Auto".
