Multi-mode navigation

Are the Multi-mode navigation receivers really usable in each mode? This sounds like something I can use. Are they worht it?

In what modes are you

In what modes are you interested? Nuvi has auto, pedestrian, and bike. Are you thinking running, boating, F-16 targeting?

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Save you money and keep your GPSr

After reviewing the HAiCOM Hi-305, I would say it's like any other device, that tries to be everything to everybody, it's not going to happens. just buy a card reader, cell phone, mp3 player or what ever else you might need and leave mapping to your GPSr.

I am looking at the NUVI 500 using both street and topo maps. Is this unit practical for both?

.

The Garmin US Topo maps do not have routable street data in them.

Is there a battery issue

Is there a battery issue when using this on trails? This could be used to get to the trail head (routable) and then to get back to the trail head while on foot.
Must the Nuvi 500 be sent back to Garmin if the battery dies?

On edit : I just found the thread on the Nuvi 500/550. My questions are answered. Thanks.
